What about the pets & the animals...

For all you who think "M" can't sing traditional

Figured this was as good a place as any to say hello...

Joined the site a few days ago, been reading back posts and absorbing information. Looks like a great resource.

A bit about myself-

I'm 25, married, no kids (yet). Currently stationed just west of Baghdad, Iraq with an army MP unit (I'm a field artillery section chief, but that's how the army sees fit to use us these days). I've been in the national guard for about 7 years. I just graduated college before I got deployed, and I am pursuing a career in law enforcement when I return. I have a long standing interest in 4x4's, shooting, camping, and being prepared. I'm active in the volunteer fire/EMS community at home, and I've worked as a paid EMS crewmember also.

I've had a bunch of 4x4's in the past, including an '85 K5 blazer, '93 YJ Wrangler, '88 Toyota 4x4 PU, '49 CJ2A, '81 CJ5, '80 CJ7, and the wife has an '04 Liberty. 4x4's in the family included '88 YJ Wrangler and '97 TJ Wrangler.

It's time to move into real trucks. I'm looking for a '96/97 BR2500 12v6BT with NV4500, extended cab, longbed, and (hopefully) 4. 10:1's, cab clearance lights, and <100K miles. Intended uses will be camping, light 4x4'ing, towing toys, and generally driving a big truck. Probably won't be a daily driver, so I'm expecting 10-15 years longevity easily.

Also have mad-scientist plans to put a 4BT in my CJ7. Probably will go with 4BT, Dodge NV4500HD, Dana 300 prepped to take the 29sp output, and I'll have to get bigger axles.

I have plans to convert as much of my family fleet as possible to diesel fuel. Hope to get the wife into a CRD Liberty next time around, etc.

Anyway, hope to gain plenty of knowledge from this site, thought I'd say hello.

Big Fat Welcome to TDRLand and Thank You for Your Service.

Good to have you!

As I'm sure you've figured out by now, there is a large contingency of military folks on here and everyone here is a truck lover, so you should feel right at home!

welcome to the TDR bstegall.

i would love to see a pic of that CJ2. hopefully when you get back to the states, you will get a chance to post some pics of the "fleet".

putting a 4bt in the CJ7 sounds like a good idea. i hope you will be able to "get-ur-done"

finally, thank you and your fellow soldiers for your service to our country. you are very much appreciated by myself and my family. feel free to share this thought with your associates.

stay safe,

jim

Nice to meet ya! Thanks for your service! I plan to get another truck when funds permit. When are you coming back home? Diesel Liberty sounds good, trying to talk my g/f into one.

Welcome!

Welcome to TDR. It's full of neat guys with lots of good information . . and some not so good :-laf

That's quite a list of rolling stock you've got there. Lots of fun deciding what to drive each day. You've got some pretty cool options.

Thank you for stepping forward when so many others are stepping back. Freedom is not free.

Stay safe & get back to ole VA soon.

Marty

Welcome to TDR. Mostly everyone is selling their 12v's to get those new overcomplicated 3rd gen engines :) Glad to see someone still has a sense of style... A 4bt in that jeep would rock... nice to meet you!
