Anyone pulling with a DTT trany?

trailer tires

I started installing my new Jordan Ultima late last night (nice unit by the way :) ). I got a call from Power Wagon last night because he lost a flex plate in northern Idaho pulling his camper and I may have to run up there and pull his trailer back for him.

My question: Where do I connect the blue wire (brake control) into the truck's wiring going back to the trailer plug socket? I have the Tow option on my rig. Does the wiring from the socket run up to the dash area of the truck or do I need to run a wire all the way back there and terminate? I don't have my paperwork here at work.

TIA

Vaughn,

If you have the towing option, you should have a brake controller pigtail that came with the truck. If you've lost this pigtail, any hitch dealer can fix you up with a Dodge pigtail. Just be sure to wire up the Jordan by function, not by wire color since Dodge doesn't agree on color coding with any brake controller manufacturer that I've ever found. The pigtail plugs in under the dash to the left (driver's side) of the steering column. The brake controller pigtail includes the blue brake output wire.

Jordan wants you to wire the controller directly to the battery, but many others (as well as I) have used the pigtail with no problems.

Thanks Rusty! Yeah I have the pigtail still, didn't really know what to do with it.

I will probably run to the battery with 12-gauge stranded wire to be on the safe side. Says to use a 20A resetable breaker too so I will do that.

I just installed the wiring on mine last night, the harness that comes for your factory trailer wiring has decals on the wires that say bat, (which was red I think), Negitive (which was black) and I can't remember what was on the other 2. The thicker one went back to the trailer brakes, and the thin one was from the trucks brake light circuit.

On the Jordon controller If I recall, there was red (hot) blue (to trailer brakes) and white (ground)

I took the remaining wire (this wire from truck brake light circuit) that used to be hooked up to my old controller, and wired it through a switch to my exhaust brake. flick the switch one way the exhaust brake only comes on when I hit the brake pedal, hit the switch the other way and it works normal.

Back to the controller.

I noticed when I watch that spring loaded "thing a ma bob" that the cable attatches to, that is mounted on the brake pedal,

as I push down the brake pedal, the spring will start to pull out, then it will jump back to its seat as the cable "jumps" out of the controler. almost like the cable is sticking.

The guy at Jordon said "it ain't sopposed to do that". He gave me some ideas to try. If that don't work he said he will take care of me.

I have mine mounted just to the left of the ash tray, and the cable does make an "S" before it hits the brake switch, but it's not a tight S, more like a 6" ark.
