Well, first off let me clarify: It's an '88 Supra turbo (230hp), 5 speed manual, and it had 3 people in it (really hurts a car that only weighs 2900lbs or so to begin with).
So a friend of mine with the Supra and I went out to the local late-night streetracing scene (my first!) on saturday night, cause he's into that kind of stuff, and I had nothing better to do. We had a few extra people with us, and I was told there are some pretty slow trucks there looking for someone more their speed, so I decided to bring my truck along...
Well to make a long story short, there were no trucks, and it turned out to be pretty lame, so we left.
On the way home, we lined up and raced from a 30mph roll (2000rpm in 3rd), and I lost ground during the 3-4 shift, but to everyone's suprise the Supra couldn't pull away any more than that! We ran up to about 90mph or so and shut down, and my buddy was just in disbelief... So we did it again, this time from a 45mph roll (in 4th this time), and again he pulled on me right away, but could do no better!
Now this may not impress too many people, but it sure did impress the Supra owner
Got to respect the diesel powah!
