There is no such thing as a stupid question, but this may be the exception to that rule...

I just went to drain my radiator to change antifreeze and can't figure out the little plastic drain valve on the driver's side, bottom of radiator. It will rotate 90 degrees, but nothing happens. It looks cheap, and I don't want to break it. Is it supposed to pull out or something once it's in the horizontal position?

I have a 94 ,but the petcocks should be the same. Open it about 90 degrees like you said, then try gently pulling it out with your finger tips. It should come out a little bit then stop. The coolant should start flowing. Don`t twist or pull any further you can strip it. Hope this helps #ad

Thanks,

I had to use a pliers, but got it to slide out. Definately a weird valve, but it works. And if the radiator cap is sealed tight, nothing but a drip or two comes out. Local dealer said to just pull off the lower radiator hose. I'd rather not have that much of a mess in my garage! I put in the new Cummins thermostat that should keep temp more constant, plus some fleetguard antifreeze mixed 50/50 with distilled water.

Turn 1/4 turn and than pull and turn 1/4 turn.
