I did recall the chirping stopped when I installed a new belt last summer.

Q: Can the clutch be changed WITHOUT removing the radiator shroud? Looks like the clutch could fit out the bottom of the shroud, but would hate to get in the middle of this thing only to find that the shroud MUST come off!

If the shroud must come off it's a bigger job, i. e draining the coolant and removing the upper radiator hose.

Manual says "lift radiator shroud and fan/clutch out together".

If this is the case, I liked the older 2 piece shroud designs on Chevy trucks... . change anything up front in less than 1 hour. But I will add I had to get in there MUCH more often on my old Chebbie trucks.

I removed mine without the shroud removed. I too liked the two piece shroud. Just take the top half off and you had access to almost everything. Guess they worked too good to keep. :)

Thanks, I assumed the fan and the clutch "could" come out the bottom, one at a time. But it looks like the I could leave the fan in there and slip the clutch out the bottom.

I did want to hear someone had achieved this before I tried it.

Come to think of it, the information I provided may be bad. I know I removed the fan and clutch to do the KDP fix, but I left it in the shroud. I can't remember if I removed it prior or w/ the shroud when I did the radiator. I hate to put out information that I am not 100% positive about. I work until 0500 hours, but when I get home, I can look under the hood. Maybe it will jar my brain. I appologize if this caused you any undo grief.

It caused no grief at all, I'm putting this off as long as posible:) She did fine today with 250 miles and mucho Houston traffic including sitting around idling. I just keep the AC off full blast and the she never got above 140.

I have also found that slipping it in neutral, or Park (when feasible) really keeps the heat down as well. Working that torque converter adds to the heat of the trans oil flowing throught the cooling system, and takes it's toll and adds up. The B&M floor shifter is VERY handy for this type foolishness.

I was in a bind for time a few years back when I replaced my fan clutch so i removed the fan & clutch let it drop down resting on the shroud then took a pair of tin snips and made two cuts allowing me to bend it out of the way no muss no fuss just got two cuts in the bottom of the shroud. Just my 2 cents.
