Tried the search, could not come up with much, so ... .

My water pump died this week, so while replacing it I am performing other repairs as well (KDP, replacing hoses, tstat, rad cap). Want to flush the system. Any tips, tricks, advice out there?

Gonna refill with Cummins premix. Do I need to add lube for water pump?

BTW, the cummins part number for the water pump is:

3286277RX

This number is different than the one on Geno's site for '92's.

Cummins premix antifreeze should be just fine or any other major brand of antifreeze mixed 50/50 with good water. All of these have the rust resistant & lubricant properties. Reverse flushing is the best way to go about getting the radiator clean. Any good radiator shop is equipped to do this at a reasonable cost. One has to be careful of disposal of old antifreeze as the EPA laws regulate this in some states & are stringent. More so in California here.

I bought a flush/fill kit from auto parts store, you will have a garden hose hook up inline with one of your heater hoses. I think I might have put in on the wrong heater hose going to the heater core. I put it on the line closer to the engine, if you followed it, it would go down to the lower radiator hose. I have the vacuum actuator/ coolant flow shutoff line on the side that runs to the t-stat. - i think. I'd like to find out which side it should be on... . anyways get a good flush/fill kit, i bought a prestone kit, follow directions, piece of cake, too easy to pay someone to do it. get the garden hose out and run it til clean h2o runs out. Industrial water treatment is part of my job. I use Ryde-lyme on gooked up closed loops and it's biodegradable. I called them and it is IDEAL for automotive, with all the metals and gasket materials. Use a 20% mixture. I've used it and it is AWESOME. Call a chem supplier or ind. water treatment vendor. Craig

Thanks guys, good stuff. I filled with Fleetguard ES Compleat.

Didn't get the post about Ryde-Lime until after everything was done:( , but next time.

Bill, I hooked up to the line further away from the block.
