I am thinking of moving a stereo system from my truck, an 04 and putting the radio from it in a 99 1500 Ram. Does anyone know if my 04 radio, code RAZ, will fit in the dash on the 1500 and plug into the stock system?
I'm pretty sure that it will not be a straight plug in. I have a 93 and was looking for a better radio to install. Got to looking on EBay and found out that the radios never changed in size or plugs from 1st Gen to 2nd Gen. I think 03 and up are different.
I will plug in no problem,BUT,you will have some minor modifying to do to make it go back together. The newer style radios are a little wider and have two locating pins on the back. You will have to remove one or both of the pins to allow you to bolt ithe radio fast. Then when you slide the dash facia back on you will see that a little minor amount of trimming on the sides will be needed to have it fit back into place... ... Andy
