Change from 4.10 to 3.73?

Adding a Generator to a Travel Traileree

Rusty, I'm glad your setup works for you and that it continues to work with no problems. To clarify, at no time I ever said your brakes weren't working. I'm sure they are so keep on truckin'

OK, let me be more clear. First, there are varying degrees of compatibility. There were some earlier Ford and GM ITBCs that would not work with EOH disc brakes, period. Some of the hydraulic brake controller manufacturers made buffer modules to solve these incompatibilities; some didn't and forced the use of aftermarket brake controllers in lieu of the Ford and GM ITBCs. Others, such as the 2010 and 2011 Ram ITBC, were not optimized for EOH disc brakes like the 2012 and up Ram ITBC which has specific settings for EOH light and EOH heavy; the only adjustable variable in the 2010 and 2011 Ram ITBC was the gain setting. That notwithstanding, some hydraulic brake controllers might not work at all with the Ram, but others do - such as the Carlisle that (AFAIK) is used in our DRV Mobile Suites. Might my rig work better with the 2012 and up Ram ITBC - almost certainly, but to state that it is incompatible with no other qualifiers lumps it into the same category as the Ford and GM ITBCs that didn't work at all, and that is not correct.

My 11 controller worked OK with the disk brakes on our 07 MobileSuites. I installed a MaxBrake and holy !!! the difference was amazing. The 11 controller worked better than the P-2 I was used to on a previous RV and truck.

UPDATE. The old brake actuator has been replaced with a Carlisle Hydrastar actuator and it's working fine with my 2011 RAM 3500 with an ITBC. The output level selected on the controller is 7.5 and preliminary tests today show it to be equivalent to the Prodigy P2. CTS Hydrastar did not respond to my emails requesting a written affirmation of their compatibility with the 2011 RAM factory brake controller but I spoke with a technical support rep who verbally assured me it would work. The compatibility matrix on their website also shows the Hydrastar actuator is compatible with 2010-2012 RAM factory controllers. There seems to be about a 1 sec. delay before trailer brake actuation, the same as with the P2. The P2 was in the "boost 1" setting which appears to send full 12 volts to the actuator initially for less than a second to bring up the pump pressure quickly. Other than that, I am satisfied with the change back to the factory controller. Thanks to RustyJC for his recommendation.
