Had a run in with one of those other so called trucks,no not the Ford,ah you know the other one,oh yeah it was the Duramax,4 doors all the options. My buddy just bought this truck,I was so disapointed in him,but he got an excellent deal with his GM discount I guess.
Well anyway I took it for a ride and it was nice and new with the new smell and all that.
But it had a LOT of radles in it,they told him it will go away as soon as all the body parts work together, yeah right. This is going to be long cause I just have to tell you all about it.
It was pretty quiet as far as the engine goes, and the auto trans seemed to shift a lot in and out of 3rd and 4th I think. It road way better than my truck, but when I looked under it I was really surprised to see the frame,it looks like a half ton frame,no wonder it rides so well,I bet there is a lot of flex in that frame.
As far as power goes it didnt seem as fast as my dodge, and when I ran him from a dead stop he jumped out to a truck length on me,but as soon as mine hit 2nd and 3rd I was right next to him and we stayed that was until he hit his limit around 85 mph he said,I was doing 92 and was gone,I thought the DMAX didnt have a limiter on it?
He is very happy with it,but he was in shock when I was right next to him all the way until he hit the governor.
I am thankful for my cummins,it is a true work horse,I think the DMAX engine may be ok,but I dont think the truck itself will hold up as well as the dodge or the DMAX as far as the miles you will get out of it.
We will see how it tows when we get our TTs out of storage and take them north,I dont think I will have to worry about him walking away from me,we will see. . )

Dave,
I would think that with your upgrades, you should have walked away from him. I have a friend that has a Duramax, and yes it's fast,But I think that with my reflash and the EZ,I'll walk away from him. I noticed after driving Kevin Arts truck with the DD2s,EZ,and DTT parts,it was a rocket, but it had a lot more turbo lag than mine. Could the injectors combined with the timing box be causing that kind of turbo lag?

Big A, what Kevin and Dave have is not necessarily turbo lag. They have convertors that actually start to transfer power and really hook up before the engine gets into the power band. It will feel a lot like turbo lag, like a flat spot on the bottom end.

Dave, I thought you would tromp him bad too. Then again you have about the heaviest Ram possible. With a load on I think you will tromp him bad, you should have 200 plus FTLBS on him. I can't believe a grown man would believe that rattles are going to go away when the parts wear. That sucker is going to rattle for ever.

someone at GM knows that REAL diesels rattle , since the DMAX is gasser quiet they had to put the rattles in somewhere ... ya that's it . #ad

the DTT TC does induce a bit of turbolag by its design , when bill first told me that as usual i didn't believe him , but once the boost comes on and your putting the power to the pavement its a different story .
