I've got over 4K on mine, and the dealer insisted on testing it anyway. I don't think it's CYA; I think it has to do with warranty $$$. BTW, mine passed.

MVaden,

Just curious... ... ... ... . I live south of Grand Rapids and about 10 miles north Wayland. Just wondering why someone from Texas would be calling Wayland for advice. By the way, that is a good dealership - service wise. I had some TSB's installed there instead of Courtesy Dodge in Gr Rapids, where I purchased my 98. 5.

I asked JTadra, who started this thread, who and where was his dealer, since they had called him about the Rapid Response Recall on his truck. I asked for the info because I figured my dealers service dept. would play dumb, which they did.

They told me I had been misinformed.

I called Kelvin (DCTECH) at Wayland Chrysler and he knew exactly what I was talking about and answered all of my questions. He also told me my truck was not on the list. (1-14-04/4G179987)

I sure wish they were only 10 miles from me.

This situation reassures me that I made a good decision in switching brands.

DC is doing the right thing. It sounds like a failure would be very rare. My gut tells me Ford or GM would say nothing to the dealers and just wait for leaks to develop. DC is laying the cards on the table and addressing the issue head on.

Ford has had various issues over the last few years that they knew existed, but they choose not to acknowledge. It is comforting to me to know that if a problem does develop, DC won't stick their head in the sand.

BRAVO!!!

They won't give me my truck back!

Scott,

I agree with Ken F above. My truck passed the the leak test on Monday, but I had asked them to look into the pinging/knocking/lack of power problem. Luckily, there was a DC tech on site Monday. They feel there is a problem but have not been able to pin-point it. So my truck is in little pieces with the dealer testing with one hand and talking to STAR with the other.

They could have given me the "that's normal" speech, but they didn't and they are working on the problem. So for that I am happy I bought the Dodge. My old Ferd dealer had a button he pushed whenever I came in. It played a recording of "It's supposed to sound that way".

I will keep you posted.

Also, I'm sure it helped when I told them that as a member of the TDR, I have driven other 600's that didn't make the noises my is making.

Thanks guys, for all the feedback.

Fred

Gen II truck lift pumps = DC Head in the sand

In this case however they seem to be stepping up to the plate. But rest assured it not voluntary though. Someone, somewhere, is sueing the crap out them for a failure that has cost a life somehow... No auto maker is going to give away all the warranty $$$'s if they didn't figure it was going to cost them more if they didn't. Anyway, in this case. Good Job DC, this is how you EARN customers. If it were Ferd they'd say a few drips a day are perfecly normal.

got the call yesterday truck is sitting waiting on the test. Said they would reprogram the computer for the correct tire size too. Unless they have to replace the motor. I'm driving a freakin real ECHO now, doesn't burn much rice though.

for the . 2 of an hour the recall pays the dealer, it barely pays for the electricity to open the shop door in the morning.

Can someone please post a photo of where these freeze plugs are at on the engine so that I can do a visual inspection on my engine? Thanks in advance.

The VIN # range I've seen includes many 305/555 HOs. But I havn't seen a post from a 305/555 owner. Should the dealer have a copy of the actual VIN#s that should be checked?

The core plugs are easy to see as they are on the passenger side of the block, about 2" Ø. Think there are 3 of them.

I had stopped by the dealer and the service manager ran my vin, my truck is fine, not on list even-though the vin falls within the grouping (199***)

Recall phone call from the dealer who received truck in, not who I purchased from, telling me of truck being on recall list!!!

I talked to Service manager at my dealer, Bergey Franconia, a former student of my father, and he could not find any recall info on my truck.

Person calling insisted on them screwing with my truck, even after I explicitly told them that I have 1500 miles on the truck!!!

After they destroyed the wifes Durango 3 years ago I would do not want them touching my truck:{ !~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pep boys would be better!!! Well maybe not but could not be much worse.

What should I do?

See others have been told by Chrysler that if you have nay miles on the truck and they are not leaking to not worry.

To my knowledge, this is not a recall, it's called a "rapid response". From an earilier post by another member, it appears it was never intended to be done on vehicles that were already delivered. I don't think that anyone here as tested positive for the failure.
