Besides dynosource.com who handles the Raptor fueling module? I always look for the best price on products.

Raptor

it IS an EZ, but my understanding is that it has different "firmware", and the parameters are different. it supposedly makes 80 hp and 200 lb/ft of torque. i understand it is guaranteed "for life" also. talk to Jeff at STP--he'll shoot straight and tell it like it is. :)

Jeff is a straight shooter. The Raptor is a good box. Very smooth. Not "peaky" at all. The SETDR meets at his place about every other month and he always takes the time to talk to the guys individually and find out what kind of mods they are interested in and then give them good advice on how to do their mods. The Raptor is a fine piece of firmware wrapped in a neat package. In my opinion, it doesn't have the low end power of the VA, but it allows the engine to come up a little on boost before really doing it's thing. To me that's a good thing. Less smoke for one thing. Another thing is that the engine and transmission are moving nicely before all this power is added which means less strain on the drivetrain. So if you are towing or just running along at 15-1800 RPMs and get down on it, the power is going to be instant. If you, are starting from a dead stop, on the #2 jumper setting, there will be power but it will be coming up on an exponential curve. Put the jumper on number one and that gives the fast response but you get more smoke with that setting.

sounds a bit high to me..... you may see these type of gains on a 215 HP engine..... but not the 235 or 245.

at what RPM are these gains? I am guessing at 1600 RPM.

Someone was going to dyno the Raptor this week. If the EZ is 65 and this is a rebadged, firmware upgraded EZ, it could be 80. I can tell you, it is strong on an HO.

I would like to see the before and after dyno results. The reason I say that 80 HP may not be possible unless it is at a low rpm is because of the Programming in the VP44. Peak horsepower increase is probably close to 40.

keep in mind that the EZ's 65 HP increase is at 1900 RPM... . peak HP increase with all CPC type boxes is close to 40 with stock injectors.

Strong!

I'll agree it's strong. I got mine from Jeff at STP. Running in OD at 60 to 65 mph if I get on it moderately hard the TC shudders and I have to back out! Bad a** torque! I guess DTT is the next stop. Does this ever end? Fun though ain't it? BTW I guess y'all figured out I like the Raptor but I kind of doubt the 80 hp and 300 fpt claim even though it definitely strong. If anyone gets a dyno on it please post it. Thanks.

I'm with Jvann. I can't prove it's 80, buuuuuuutttttttt, like he said, it is strong. Someone will dyno it. If it's 40, 50, whatever, it's still smooth and strong and I like it alot. And my mileage is back up to the VA numbers. I'm a happy boy no matter how it turns out. You guys have a good Christmas.
