For those who are interested in getting an RB1 NAV unit, I saw these today. He has 3 of them if anyone's interested:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7992884492

They appear to be new pulls & he's bundling them with new CD's, GPS antenna & manual to make a complete kit. I didn't buy mine from him (he was out at that moment) but I emailed him when I was shopping and he seemed like a good guy...

See my sig below for install photos and a scan of the Mopar installation instructions.

I've been eyeballing these units since Wednesday. Doggone, it IS very tempting, but the House Finance Committee is still deliberating. Doesn't look like this proposal will receive funding this month, but there is always hope. Should hear from the Chairwoman this afternoon. Perhaps one can imagine the ensuing wrath if one was to procure new assets without prior approval of the House Finance Committee Chairwoman. I don't EVEN want to go there! :{

Hey H -- How's it going? I'm still waiting on mgmt to get me the framed pic. Will get up with you when I hear from them.

I hear that loud and clear & understand 100%

"Office Politics" is more art than a science I'd say!

KEEP THE "BOSS" HAPPY and maybe you can procure funds in the near future... . #ad

It's all about household politics. Lately my rhetoric hasn't been as convincing tho'. Must be the way I spent the recent H-D funding. Oh well. I'm confident I'll get the RB1 sooner rather than later. We'll see.

Guys, there are better deals on ebay than $899. I paid $600 for mine and I always see them for $700-$750. Also, check the completed listings for ones that didn't sell and contact the seller and low ball him.

Howdy Jeff, I've seen auctions like those as well, but I've noticed they are from an end user, may not include the DVD, the manual, or the antenna adhesive will not be intact. The ones of which JGann speaks are advertised as bench tested dealer pulls warranteed to work as advertised and are bundled with everything that ships with the OEM system save for a dealer warranty... for $700 less than the dealer price. For my money (well, my wife will say it's her money..... and sometimes that is true), I'd rather have ALL the good stuff and spend an extra $150 to $300 than run the risk of getting an incomplete system, which may or may not work... ... . and be stuck with it. That's just me tho'. I'm picky like that. :D

Hi Jeff,

You're right -- for the bargain hunter, I've seen them go from a private seller in the low $700's for the head unit alone without the Disk or the Antenna.

I didn't mean to imply the $900 price was necessarily a bargain. I don't want anyone to think that the $1,000 I paid is the cheapest -- it's not. But I'm pleased with my seller and was happy NOT getting the absolute "BEST" price but getting a brand new unit with all new stuff in a complete package.

For comparison, www.newmoparparts.com is selling them for $1,350 and they won't come down off that price at all so it's not a crime to pay $900 to $1,000 in my opinion for a new one.

Mine was brand new and included everything. At the time there were 4 that were less than $750 and were all new with all the parts (antenna, DVD, manual, etc. ). I would watch and wait patiently and save yourself a couple hundred bucks, but thats me. If you actually look at the auctions that sell cheap, the guy buying them is the same guy "bench testing" them and re-selling it for $899.

Jeff -- If you can find a Unopened Complete RB1 Mopar Kit on eBay for $700 to $750 please let me know immediately. I'm genuinely interested. I'll turn around and sell it on eBay for $1,000 no problem. Thanks.

Yes..... PLEASE..... I'd like some of this action as well, and in the spirit of American competition, J, I'll let it go for $975. :D

Hey, at $700 for a brand new complete mopar rb1 upgrade kit you might get it past the "House Finance Committee" without a sweat!!!! ;)

You know J, I might could get that approved. As for now, it remains unfunded. That's OK; we'll make more money next pay period. :)

Jeff -- The guy's auctions state that his are pulls from NEW vehicles. He says they are NEW PULLS. He does bid on other units but I haven't seen where he won any of those auctions. Now, he might be lying about the ones he sells being NEW PULLS, I don't know and I don't want to defend anyone. But you can't assume that the units he's bid on are the same units he's selling and claiming are NEW PULLS.

"RB1 units are pulls from 2005 NEW vehicles, for video system upgrades! They are in EXCELLENT, WORKING CONDITION, and I will GUARANTEE them for 45 DAYS!"

Of all the links you sent above, only two claim the units are brand new and one of those is sketchy. Many of them have a pile of text that was pasted by a seller who probably just copied the data from another person's auction. I wouldn't bid $400 on the used ones and the new ones are questionable too.

The bottom line is that in my opinion it's not fair for you to come on here and make a blanket statement that they're going for $600 to $700. Then you rationalize your statement by saying that it's ok because the link I posted above is for used units even though you have no evidence of that. Your position deteriorates quickly as you started off with an overly-simple declaration (that I conceeded could be true for the bargain hunter) and now you're offering rationalizations to sustain your spurious premise.

Lastly, as I said above, I don't think that $900 or $1,000 is a bargain. But you have to be careful on eBay and deal with people who care about their feedback and have sold these items before. I'd buy one from this guy. You wouldn't. That's fine.

Now -- I'm still waiting to see the new kit for $700 to $750. I need to make some dough.

Go ahead and pay $900 - $1000 for one if it makes you feel more "comfortable". :-laf

I have repeatedly found complete kits in the $600-$750 range. All I am saying is that they are available. Most of them are "NEW PULLS" too, just not bench tested by some guy. Ebay and PayPal have buyer protection to guarantee that you don't get ripped off. The guy I bought my kit from had buy-it-now prices of $725 for his BRAND NEW kits, not even new pulls, BRAND NEW.

Once again, If you want to find a NEW COMPLETE KIT for $600-$750, just be patient and you will find them. They ARE available to those who want to save a couple hundred dollars, which apparently is not you.

I sold a new pull RBQ and Sirius tuner to that eBay guy. They were both newly pulled from an 05 which was once new. At the time of the new pull, the truck had 3800 miles on it. ;)

Exactly. :D

Will the RB1 satellite navigation units work with Sirius (already installed) and with the control buttons on the back of the steering wheel -- in an '03 Laramie?

Jeff, if it's that important to you then I'll admit whatever you want me to. I suck / You're brilliant. Whatever you want to hear. I know I know. You can get those for $600, brand new, complete, installed for free and a free truck to go with it. Just be patient! The whole world is dumb for not being patient! They want $1,000? Talk them down. They'll come down just because you want them to. Happens all the time.

BTW, the guy sold out of those 3 units at $899 in 20 hours. They're all dumb. Idiots! They don't listen Jeff. They just don't listen. They're all dumb. Why can't they see what's plainly obvious to you? It's incomprehensible!

Better?

It appears so. It appears to plug into the 10 pin C2 socket.

Note that if you have a CD Changer too, you need / already have the Mutiplex splitter box allowing both the Sirius and the CD Changer to use the C2 10 pin socket.

Regardless, the RB1 should just plug right in as it has the same C2 10 pin plug as your current radio.

See this diagram from www.wjjeeps.com and it will make more sense:

This information is for Jeeps but much of it carries over to the Dodge Ram. Here is the link to their Sirius page:

I hope this helps.
