Real bad jerking back and forth while towing.

I have experienced it several times now while towing my empty Jayco 30'5th. 8000# 11,500 full.

While in 3rd, just after upshifting from second, between 1500-2000 RPM, the truck and trailer begin SEVERE jerking back and forth, as if its a tug of war, or excessive slack in the drive train that begins and wont stop, until I let off on the fuel... .

The other day I had to slow down to 2nd gear range to start all over again. If I put my foot hard into the throttle, it seems not to do it as much... but still does. .

I've been driving since i was 11, way back when , and have never had this happen before. . Ok, ok, don't tell me I'm getting too old to drive!!!(40)

Has anyone had this problem before? thanks in advance. Ed

There is a TSB out on this that basically changes some of the throttle linkage to remove some of the sensitivty. The following link hopefully takes you to Fritz's site and should help you out.

Mine does it also. I think it has something to do with balance between truck and trailer,neither is at fault on its own. Mine only does it empty between 3rd& 4th,I've learned to just blast thru it as fast as possible,doesn't do it decelerating. I just live with it. If it bothered me more I'd add some weight to the front of the trailer,I'm sure that would cure it.

Ed, DC did that TSB to mine when it was still in warranty. If you call the nat'l customer assistance number, they still might do yours at no charge. Craig

thanks for the help. I'll get ahold of DC and see if they will fix it. . I'm still under warranty as far as the engine goes, 73,000. Maybe that will work. .

Dodge put on the new linkage kit & problem gone. #ad
I'd try changing the linkage spring 1st. Cheap & it may fix it. The new linkage kit now requires a bunch more pedal pressure. #ad
