Is the same issue still holding over on these trucks with the rear axle fluid level, 1/2" down from fill hole etc?( Can't recall seeing anything in the manuel. have to check again)

Was looking at the fill hole . Looks equal with lower axle housing line. With the old Mag Hytec, I think the axle bearing were in a oil bath. Are these similar?

I also noticed the transmission pan is very shallow. I wonder if a deep pan would enhance the cooling or has anyone had a issue with that yet?

Awful lot of SMOG crap on these motors... .....

PS: Keep getting the "burning plastic smell on occasion. Has 1400 miles. Checked exhaust no bags stuck to it. . Normal?????

Thanks in advance. Ed

The burning smell is just the regen process in action. The correct level is about 3/4 inch below the fill plug with the steel cover, haven't looked at the new (oem)ho aluminum fill location yet. The deep pan will be a good addition,it also adds some rigidity to the case

The 11. 5 is 1/4 ± 1/4", so you can have it to the fill hole and be in the zone. It appears the max tow cover has the hole in the same location as there are no additional instructions for it.

For all 2500/3500 Model axles, the fluid level should be
1/4 in ± 1/4 in (6. 4 mm ± 6. 4 mm) below the fill hole on
the 9. 25 in front
and 3/4 in ± 1/4 in (19 mm ± 6. 4 mm) on
10. 5 in rear axles. The 11. 5 in rear axle level should be
1/4 in ± 1/4 in (6. 4 mm ± 6. 4 mm) below the fill hole.

I installed a PML Transmission pan the first week I had my 2012. I like the PML because it looks like the Max Tow factory installed Differential cover, it does not use an extention for the sum,p filter, has a real drain plug, and adds 3 quarts of ATF, has cooling vents, and is very robust in design, all this to me is a good thing.

Is there any place on the truck that shows the rear axles ratio like the old glove box sticker, or a tab on the Rear end?? Besides the window sticker?

70 in 6th gear is 1800rpm. . 75 is about 2000rpm. If they are NOT 4:10, watch the evening Phoenix news for a new sliver 2012 Dodge driven thru a local showroom floor wall etc... LOL
