Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) rear axle

Hey guys three months ago change oil in rear end for the first time. 131,000 miles on truck, now when putting into gear the rear axle make some noise. jacked up truck and shaft into rear axle has some play, this must be a problem.

Which sort of play, axial, lateral?

Your truck came with dino gear oil in the rear diff with a note in the owners manual to change to synthetic if you tow! SNOKING

When I did that oil change three months ago I use the mobil 1 with the additive in oil, Brought it to an old mechanic I know. And he said he new what was the problem, It was doing it only when you turn the wheel an ezz off the brake. Possitive rear end was grabbing at all times. I should have said this in the first post, He had a 4oz bottle of sta-lube, EQUA-TORQUE LUBE and said to add to axle, after about 200 miles no noise.
