Rear differential cover gasket

I'm planning on changer the rear dif fluid tomorrow and was wondering how many time the gasket is reusable??? I already changed it twice and I now have 40000 miles on it. If needed do you know where I could get the gasket other than the *******??

I would think that as long as the gasket isnt crakcked and is still in visibly good shape I dont see why you couldnt use it.



But why are you changing your fluid so often? Know what the handbook says, but I changed mine on my last 2 trucks once every 100,000 miles,with no ill effects. Thats because I tow almost everyday. Just curious.

I've been changing mine per the 15k mile requirement, which means I've removed and replaced the covers with the same gaskets 4 times now. And once I accidentally bent one of the gaskets while cleaning it.



After removal, wipe them down (CAREFULLY!), then put a light coat of gear oil on them before reassembly.
