anybody have any new ideas about pulsating in rear brakes on light pedal application. happens in dry and wet weather . does not happen all the time. new raybestos linings and drums installed about 40000 miles ago. always adjusted by hand. blowing out brake dust and readjusting lasts for about two stops. dont have money to change to discs. thanks in advance for any information. GOD bless AMERICA. our prayers go out to your troops in afganstan.

Check it out

Check this out. It's a real PIA but works - basically you're fitting the shoes to the drums. Beleive me I did everything else first cut drums, new shoes & cut drums, new shoes "and" drums still same thing :--) :--). Then I heard about fitting the shoes to the drums. IT DOES WORK. It's about a 4 beer job or 2 hours or so. I wish I had the $$$ to upgrade to the r/disk also. PM if you get stuck or don't understand my million word solution.

Good luck - Joe Mc

brakes

:eek:My truck had been doing the same thing,so i pulled the rear wheels off and my raybestos linings were fried and cracked, the drums were worn oversize... :D ;) I replaced brakes with new NAPA drums & shoes,,,it is much better:D

If it is a drum brake system, and the rear drums and brake shoes were recently replaced, it sounds like they may have turned them off center. If they get the drum not centered correctly on the turning machine (easy for some shops to do, using cheap labor), it can/will do that until the drums get re-turned correctly and true (if any metal left to do so.

Don't know if this applies to you, but switching to aluminum wheels can cause a pulsing pedal if the wheels do not completely clear the brake drums. The drums can wiggle enough to cause a vibration exactly like a warped drum.
