You ever come up at night behind a dually with mud flaps with all them chrome gadgets on em, just a flappin in the breeze reflecting your lights back at you?
Maybe add a couple of plastic mirrors for good measure. That might help with tailgaitors. #ad

Rowdy Lee, why don't you bust a few slowpokes or tailgaters? They're far more dangerous, IMO, they often anger people into passing when they shouldn't, or doing things they shouldn't.
Instead of trying to meet the speed ticket quotas crammed down your throat by your Commie adminstrators, who still subscribe to the old hokey Ralph Nader B. S. that "speed kills", in the interest of garnering more revenue for the local governments...
No wonder we got road rage all over the nation,it's "okay" to hog the left lane at 45mph on an interstate, but go 5mph over the limit, and you get busted. Need to hand out Prozac pills at every rest area, so we can all drive docilely along, in a happy daze... at 40mph or less. They'd have to raise taxes to make up for the loss of ticket revenue.
Nothing personal, Rowdy, it's the system that angers me. And you do make a VERY good point about the illegality of rear lights. So please, won't you go bust a few left lane hogs? It's not the speed that's bad, it's the stupidity of the driver...

I can see it now... on account I passed ya instead of riding your illuminated rear end...

Tractor Trailer Driver to a state trooper standing in the dark, at the scene, "out of no where these dang bright lights come on, I couldn't see and the next thing you know, I had an accident with that pick-up. "

at the same time, standing before St. Pete... "Well Ya see... I was being "tailgated" so I armed my "tailgater-countermeasure" and in a flash, quite literally, well, here I am. "

Would St. Pete Respond, "HERE'S YOUR SIGN... "?

Seriously, you could get yourself and others hurt.

How about a little safer aproach.
Go to Wal-Mart and get your self a wind shield washer pump. Get a washer fluid tank.
Now run a line to your exhaust from the pump. Hook tank to pump. Now you decide what you want to fill in the tank. I thought some thing that would make your nose roll up and your eyes water. This would be the invisible stink bomb. If you know of some stink fluid kindly share it with us.
Or you could dump used motor oil from your truck into that washer tank and smoke that tailgating buddy. This would be the smoke screan. But could be more dangerous. Don't wan't to use too flamable of some substance.

Needed something yesterday, was heading east and have a load on so doing the ole 67-70 (75 limit) CC and heres the famous fruit&nut with his "We Rent - U Drive" hauling his beemer on the trailer. Got to get in front syndrome, after 3x's of the "leapfrog" I go max speed for about a mile. Never caught up. These drivers are the worst - gotta get in front and slow down, get u to pass and then they repeat. Wish I had the "sprayer" with a light oil (3-1 type) misting the air!! #ad

Tailgaters don't bother me much anymore as long as they stay behind you. But be carefull and don't dodge something in the road at they last minute, they won't see it in time and will hit it.

I've got load lights mounted on the top of the bumper just under the signals. Great for backing into trailers, out of parking spots and, yup, tailgaters with their hi beams on. #ad

Briar, I hate tailgaters as much as the next guy and ive written my share of tags to them, and the slow pokes etc. but to hit them with high power white light? i did that once back in my log truck driving days and i hit the back up lights on a tail gater. turned out he was chp pacing me and well, the rest is history.

I like the washer pump with grape soda in it idea. The idea of using brake fluid will take off paint, my luck I would get some on my truck. I was laughing so hard my kids came to see what I was doing.

I've done the road rage thing, I've tried the q-beam (actually, my gf in the early 80's q-beamed a couple of guy's in a C10 4x4 while we were in a Toy) and they just laughed, I've contemplated an oil slick and oil injection in a gas motor.

I'll tell you what works for me now... I bombed my truck.

A few weeks back, an Explorer was tailing me on the beltway about 6:00am. I was doing 5 over at 75mph but he pushed so I went 80. He wanted to go faster so I moved over to let him by and then pulled right back behind him. I pushed until he hit the wall at about 95mph. I new he had to much pride to move over so I eased back to the right lane and motored on passed him.

I have heard that some of the Fords are governed on the top end; if they are, it wasn't fair but was funny to say the least.

I just remembered one trick I've thought about in the past... it would be hilarious to have the ability to drop the tailgate down at speed. No, not like lowering a Tommy Lift, I'm mean dropping that sucker.

You know that any person tailgating you would produce an instant LHD right on the spot #ad

Yep alot of Chev's are governed too. When you have a Vortec that would suck!

The true life story of tailgater losing the battle was on I-5 in Oregon. This lady driver was bugging a truck driver with too bright of lights too close behindl

Solution:
Called a trucker, who came up and boxed the car in until forced to stop. Trucker got out and broke out her headlights.

Many times a vehicle comes up fast from behind and it takes an act of Congress to get them to pass even when they have enough room to get their rubber bands wound up. Left lane is for passing right lane for driving.

One day on a 4 lane Hwy these two ladies pass ed me and behind them was a vehicle with red and blue flashing. The two ladies mouths were going a mile a minute. It took aprox 3 miles and the Sirene(sp) to get their attention.

One of my friends was riding his souped up moped (50 mph top speed) one night and the car in front of him was going 35 in a 45 no passing zone and the car behind him was riding his fender. He pulled out his S&W . 357 Magnum and fired a couple of shots into the side of the hill along the road. Car in front took off like a rocket, car in back dropped way behind. In a matter of seconds he was all alone.

I want one of those hay spikes mounted in the bed that I can lower from in the cab. Drop it down and slam on the brakes. No more radiator #ad
