Should the rear main seal be covered under the power train warranty? I have a 2014 ram 2500 6.7L 4x4. It is still under power train warranty and emissions warranty.

Because its leaking and dealer says its not covered under powertrain warranty. They did confirm it was the rear main. Just looking for others input if i should push the issue further with the dealer.

If it is just weeping, they might say it's not broke?

But if they confirmed verbally that it's broke and is the main rear seal, don't see why it would not be covered.

Mine was covered but it was just prior to the 3-36 expiring, good luck with it. Dealer had my truck for over a week.

Took it in for the Transmission service and told them it looked like the oil pan gasket was leaking. They diagnosed the rear main seal leaking and something on the front of the engine. Said it wasn't covered by power train warranty. A quick call to FCA determined otherwise. Should be picking the truck up Friday with everything fixed under warranty.

What the HELL is wrong with these Service guys??? It’s money in their pocket to repair these trucks.

I have a 15 2500 6.7 auto 4x4 53k. Mine has a seep coming from the rear of the motor, probably like the original poster had. It drips once after I park. Every time. If it is the rear main seal or the oil pan gasket, what is the extent of the repair?
I have the extended warranty until 70k.
I didn’t want some yahoo working on it if they had to pull the motor and screw other stuff up.
I’m in the DFW area if anyone had a great recommendation on a dealership service department. Thanks Andy.

repair of rear main seal may require transmission removal for access to seal assembly. do a search on Youtube... you'll get a better idea of what's involved.

There. Fixed it for you.

There are several things that can leak and drip from the back of the motor that are much more likely than a rear main seal or an oil pan gasket.

Yea I would be careful letting the dealer touch my truck. Two weeks later and they are still trying to fix the rear main seal leak. I took it in and it was minor when I left the first time it was pouring oil out (after they replaced the seal). Still waiting to see what comes of this...
