rear speakers

I want to buy some new speakes for the back, and maybe even the front. I dont really want to cut anything. what have you all done? Any help would be great

MHindman, I changed the doors on my 2000 QC to Kenwood excellon 3 ways, and the rear doors to Kenwood Excellon 6" round Dual Mags, A Kenwood 848 4 channel amp with all the door speakers on the front channel, and an MTX dual 10" sub box on the rear channel. The box is pre formed to go under the rear seat of the QC. Stock radio to retain the stering wheel controls, and it ROCKS... .

Does the stock radio have RCA output jacks for connecting an auxillary amplifier?

The stock radio does not have RCA outputs. You can buy a "convertor" that has speaker wire inputs and RCA outputs to install the amplifier. Their about $20.

in talking with a few audio dealer installers in town, several have recommended good quality 6X9 three ways in front, leave stock rears only for sound balance and subwoofer(s) installed with a amp to drive the subwoofer. they said that most after market, and possibly the stock radio, have enough power to drive the front speakers. # of subwoofers and size depends on the amount of bass you prefer. some radios are equipped to turn off the bass in the front speakers, then you can set the treble and midrange on highest levels and the subwoofer provides the bass. what you have is fronts blasting the highs and the sub booming the lows. rear stocks for sound balance if you need them at all. i've got a pioneer deh47 that does the adjustments. haven't done the set up as of yet. $$
