Last night me and the family was headed to checkout some christmas light and my wife noticed that they where no heat flowing from the concole or under seat vents? This is the first time in the winter that anyone has rode in the back so I have never noticed this problem before. Any ideas? Any TSB's? (We usually take the minivan)

Thanks for any help.

Merry Christmas to all the TDR family & the Cummins Nation:D

What year is it and is it megacab??

Sorry no tsb's and I haven't had to fix one yet. Not much help. Has the center console ever been pulled out?

I have not had to pull apart a 4th gen yet, they use all electric actuators,Unless you drive a ton of miles in a hurry I would think you should still have some warranty. To remove the ducts you have to remove the front seats according to the fsm. The earlier megas had a screen you cut out to increase the flow to the rear.

It's not that big of a deal but I would still like them to work.

I still have warrantie but I've got a blackmaxx and don't like to take

Her in unless needed. I'll check it out when it warms up alittle at my

Shop. Thanks for the help. Hope you all have a great Christmas.

I checked mine this morning. The only time any air blows out the rear console vents is when the air selector is turned all the way to the left. You would think it would blow when you select floor, but it doesn't.

Here is a link for dash removal to remove the screens that cause the lack of air flow to the rear, and also, on the mega cab, cause the front dash vents to have very low flow. I have done 1 of these, with the help of a friend. It is a lot of work. If I had warranty,I would certainly make the dealer do it.
Hope this helps.

The 4th gen housing(and dash)are not the same as the 3rd gens

I just checked my 2012 Crew Cab, when dash air is selected I get some out the center vents, when floor heat is selected I get air out the rear vents under the front seats, appears to work fine, mine is a bench no center console

I have looked at the online owners manual very poor decription of how the rear outlets are supposed to work  The fsm does not give any info except remove and install so maybe it just ties into the normal floor vent outlets

I'm not an expert on the Dodge HVAC system, but it should operate like this:

The rear vents are just drawing air off of the main unit in the dash.

If you are in Defrost mode on the main unit, then no air will be coming out of the rear floor or console (face) vents. It will be directed towards the windshield and side window outlets

If you are in Defrost/Floor mode on the main unit, then a little air will be coming out of the rear floor vents only.

If you are in Floor mode on the main unit, then a little more air will be coming out of the rear floor vents only.

If you are in Face/Floor mode on the main unit, then a little air will be coming out of the rear floor and console (face) vents.

If you are in Face mode on the main unit, then a little more air will be coming out of the rear console (face) vents only.

Yep, that sums it up. The rear outlets under the driver's and passenger's seats move air when the floor setting is selected, and the vents on the back of the center console are tied in to the panel vents. The floor vents seem to work okay, but most people exhale with more force than what comes out of the center vents. Kind of a waste to have adjustable outlets on them, considering the air jet would never actually reach the rear seat occupants.

Seems like we'll need to use the floor-only setting if we want to change the back seat temp quickly.

Picked up a 2016 Tradesman last weekend and have noticed very minimal air flow out of the rear vents, both under the seat and the center vents behind the center seat/fold down console. So minimal it seems to defeat the purpose of them even being there. Is that still the norm? This is the only thread I found on it. My truck is the regular crew cab, not the mega cab if that makes a difference.
