Does anyone know for sure how the rebate works if you order a truck and the rebate expires before the truck comes in? My buddy just ordered a 3500 and the current $2500 rebate will expire before the truck comes in. He is under the impression he gets the rebate because he ordered it when the reabte was in place, I did not think it worked that way. If anyone knows for sure I would appreachiate it.

My dealer gave me the impression if you ordered it with the rebate in place, then you got both price protection and the rebate. They told me to be sure, put some money down, as little as $500 to hold it. Of course, dealers have been known to fib a little at times.

It is my understanding that once you place a firm order you are price protected if the rebate expires. Also, if the rebate gets better you would be eligible for that better rebate. Send a PM to tomeygun-he sells them.

I was told by Steve White Motors and my dealer that I would get whatever rebate was effect at the time of the delivery.

But I would think that as the trucks get older, the rebate would get better, not worse.

after spending 4years as an F&I manager, i will tell you that if they say you will get todays rebate... . better get it in writing. I know that when i ordered cars we had to tell the factory a special code the truck was sold in order to protect the consumers rebate;however if the rebates changed the rebate would still be what the truck was ordered with... better or worse. I always put them in to be protected and if the rebates were better i told the factory the customer refused the truck and cancelled the rebate... sold it to them a week later instead... i guess it is all in who you deal with... .....

Seeing as i am no longer in the auto business my knowledge is truthful and could save you a lot of headaches and money... it up for grabs if i can help at all!!!!

When I ordered my truck they told me what rebate is in effect when it comes in is what you get. If the rebate expires you are pretty well out of luck. But if it increases by the time it comes in you get more. They had a little price increase by the time my truck came in so it cost me a little more. Not much but to me it meant something.

From experience - if the dealer ordered the truck as "sold", AND your friend signed a buyers order AND put down a deposit (mine was $100), you will get the BETTER of either the rebates in place when the order was placed, or the rebates in effect at the time of delivery. If all of the above steps are followed AND you take delivery of the truck within 7 days of it arriving at the dealership, you are also protected from any price increases. The dealer has to fill out some paperwork to cover price protection, rebate decreases, etc. but mine did it with no hassles - the rebate went up $1000 but the price jumped a couple hundred too. The keys are a SIGNED order, a deposit, proper ordering of the truck by the dealer, and a dealer who is not a ****ler.

Rebates that will NOT "carry" are short-term bonus-rebate deals like the holiday cash, etc.

As mentioned before, Tomeygun can confirm this.

Good luck!

This is the correct information.

Thanks for the info, since my first post my buddy got an e-mail from the dealer saying they will give him the rebate even if it is not offered when the truck comes in. He did give them a deposit and sign the paperwork so I guess he is all set.

If your dealer is putting it in writing and honoring it, you have a very good dealer. The DC rules book (I think they call it the "Gold Book") clearly states rebate is at time of delivery. If it goes down, your dealer is taking it on the chin.

So the bottom line is, get it in writing, because DC will always follow the rules.

If the rebate does go away and the dealer still gives it to him I would think the dealer would actually lose money, the truck is being sold for $600 under invoice minus the $2500 reabate, pretty good deal.
