I didn't get any responses over on the 3rd gen forum, so I'm reposting here.

I spun a bearing or threw a rod or something in my 2006 engine, and due to rather extensive mods on my part, it's not under warranty. Anyway, I now have the opportunity to rebuild the engine from the ground up. What I need is some suggestions on mods to consider when I'm putting it back together. This would be stuff like flycutting the pistons, special coatings, blueprinting, boring, stroking, etc. It's for a daily driver that will end up getting every power mod I can think of thrown at it eventually. It needs to be reliable and driveable and fast. Currently I am planning on heaving the head ported with the Extrude Hone Powerflow AFM process.

Any ideas from all you engine builders out there? What should I be thinking about?

i would tear it down first to see what is needed. stock pistons are good, coating them is always good. balancing the rotating assembly, no need to fly cut unless you are going to run a big cam, studs, if you are going to build a high hp daily driver i would sink some money into a good set of twins to keep it cool, quality injectors, cam with bolt on gear, valve springs. no need to bore unless it needs it, oversized stock MLS gasket. proper break in and tuning. IMO

or you could just buy a built CR motor. i know of a well know company thats building them, and it may be what your looking for.

if not you could just buy a new short block.

some pro mod tricks

if you got money to burn, do some comp tricks like knife edging the crank weights for less resistance and a staged dry sump lube system.
