I looked up my VIN and I see the fuel heater recall P65 (complete) as well as a steering wheel wiring harness recall R36 (just appeared - have not been in to get it done yet).

I am surprised that I see nothing else since my truck is a 2012.

I think this means my truck is unaffected and so I am not eligible for the buyout, correct?

Thanks.

P.S. I did receive a letter regarding the fuel heater recall P65, but have yet to receive anything on the steering wheel wiring harness recall R36.

No parts yet for the r36

Not necessarily. Did the dealer look it up? I think they have a more complete look up.

The reason there's a 10% penalty to the customer is because they didn't inform all the customers.

The buyback Is related to the tie rods. (Death wobble).

It's only 4x4's.

They never sent me anything thats for sure. I do love the truck though.:D

Chances are you have the recall, I never received a word on my 11 and have the 13v-527 recall # but as I said I never got anything till I went and looked it up online and went to the dealer, actually 3 of them from iowa and missouri to get the deer in the headlights look like they know absolutely nothing about this whole mess saying that it is all up to corporate about how they want to handle it. I have read consent for fca and nthsb and it states they have 60 days to let us know from one month ago tomorrow. I don't see myself getting anything from the company as I haven't so far but I know I do qualify. Consent also says that fca has to purchase trucks back original purchase price minus a fair amount for wear and tear plus 10%.

I just received the official snail mail recall notice yesterday. Mine also shows up when I put the VIN, mileage and zip code in the recall website.

Got my 'info' notice today. It recites the tie rod end recall as well as outlines the 3 options. The only 'new' info is that it says on or after Oct. 1, you can make an appointment with a local dealer for the 'final inspection' and 'final buyback number'. Previously, they didn't say how you would go about getting the final inspection/buyback number.

There's a website where you can run your VIN and check -> http://www.fcausrepurchase.com/. It also lays out the 3 options.

In my case it wasn't working, probably because the car was still under the prior owner and the ZIP didn't match. I got a live chat with a FCA rep who run it and came back saying "So the way the buy back consideration works is you would have to have one of the following open recalls: N08, N49, and R16. Looking at your recalls, it looks like you have 2 open recalls. P65 for the Diesel Fuel Heater Electrical Connector and R36 for the Steering Wheel Wiring. So at this time, it looks like you would not be eligible for the buy back consideration."

I would have not sold it back to them anyway since I bought a 2012 in no small part because it doesn't have the SCR -> what's not there doesn't break...

Zetatre, congrats. on your new truck. I have one almost identical, except for it being a longbox. Mine is subject to the re-purchase and I think I'm going to go that route. In part, because the emissions system on the 2012's results in about 20% lower fuel mileage compared to the SCR ones along with the necessity of doing a thorough EGR cleaning at 67,500 miles. Also, the oil change frequency on the '12's is greater than the new ones. My 2012 has been flawless in 48k miles though.

Perhaps is the bad reputation that the SCR system has on the BMW X5 (and the 335d that both share the same M57 engine) have but I would not consider it reliable: there's more sensor that fail (two NOx sensors at a minimum), there's a heater element in the active tank that fails, there's multiple level sensors that fails, there's transfer pumps to move fluid from passive to the active/heated tank, injectors... A whole load of stuff that break and is expensive to fix.

I believe Cummins/Ram uses the Bosch Denoxtronic just like BMW does (there's not that many manufacturers out there). Perhaps (and hoepefully) the Cummins/Ram implementation is not as finicky as BMW's, but that's why I said I picked a 2012 in no small part because of the absence of SCR -> the system works wander in theory, it's just the implementation that makes me pause...

The EGR and LNT (Lean NOx trap) that the 2012 use is less fuel efficient and the higher EGR results in more soot and more frequent regens, but other than oil dilution with unfavorable driving habits and fuel efficiency (which I'm really not driving a 3/4 ton truck for that reason, a plus for sure, but not a determining factor) they are proven and reliable solutions.

But who knows that down the road the SCR system gives rise to another forced repurchase...

Just my 2 cents...

I'm still waiting to get something in the mail. I guess I will make an appointment at my dealer for Oct 1. I will wait to see what happens. Has Ram updated there web site for 2016 info. I can't even find a brochure for 2016. Heres hoping I get to order a new one.

Quick update-- dealer made me an offer I couldn't refuse and am trading mine in to get the $2000 extra trade incentive. I actually save around $400 by trading vs. outright buyback b/c I don't pay sales tax on the trade in value, just on the extra $$$ for the new one. Fwiw, I'm getting a '15 Bighorn w/ Aisin, etc. for $10,641 and my 2012. I don't think that's too bad for a 3 model year difference.

That is sweet. I'm hoping for the same.

I've gotten two (2) unsolicited letters from two different Houston-area Ram dealers, both offering me $32,500 as either a cash purchase or trade-in value for my 2011 truck (see signature) to avoid the "inconvenience" of the buy-back process. What's interesting is that my truck is a 4x2 that's not even included in the recall!!  :-laf

Anybody actually sold theirs yet. I went to dealer today and wasn't impressed with their knowledge or lack there of. I have sent the required emails and heard nothing. Looks like they are dragging there feet.

FCA games

I have went to three "3" dealers two states iowa and missouri and they are F-N clueless and throw it back on FCA stating that is their, the "corporations" deal and that they have nothing on it. Well, this is true or they are retards trying to run a game, either way now, I'll keep my 11 as I haven't had problem one out of it and going to the stealership is just too much of a pain in the arse listening to all the lies
Has anyone even received letters from FCA like they said they would or better yet like the NTHSB ordered and they agreed to? Not me and I have one of the buyback trucks. **** poor management, no wonder they got slapped. Love my truck , hate the manufacturer games!!

Don't mess with the dealer ships. A waste of time. I found that out more than once this past month. Email your registration and copy of title to -- email address removed --.

That is what I have done. I will keep u posted. Also send your VIN number in the subject line. That is your case number.

Have you had the steering recall performed on your truck ?

Bob4x4, no I have never had my truck to the dealer for anything. I have never even had an EVIC message or anything. But I will say the steering is getting funny. I don't drive it everyday. It's like it is in 4x4 mode on pavement. But it's in 2wd. I am waiting for my final email and it goes to dealer and I get a check. I will be stripping some things off. They already said they didn't care about the extras, only the stock truck. As far as I know I have 3 recalls. tie rod, heater grid/fuel, washer fluid filler. I never got anything on them I just saw stuff on line and it was confirmed. Will see what happens.
