Anybody ever use this stuff? I've had a bottle of it sitting on my shelf for about six months that I never used. Bottle says it's totally compatible with all diesels, and will even help allieve cavitation problems.

Whaddaya think? I've used their regular stuff in my cars with great success (average 10-20 deg cooler temps).

I put it in mine 12K ago. The good news is it did lower the temp of the cooling system while towing. #ad
The bad news is it make even the newest thermostat cycle like the one I replaced. #ad
Taking my fan off this winter and running my Lund winter front has made it alot better although it cycles two of three time before hold steady at 180.

I know it works. GO for it

I knew a radiator specialist who swore by the stuff,I've used it other trucks, but never gotten around to putting it my Dodges. Use it,you already have it.

Prestone made a product called 'Super Cool' 30 some years ago. It aided heat transfer. It worked good but nobody bought it. That was before the aluminum days. I'd just want to make sure anything you use is OK for aluminum! Craig

Cool topic. I had been wondering about the Water Wetter for awhile, as I have been using their 85Plus diesel fuel treatment for about a year now. So, if I start using the Fleetguard DCA4 coolant additive, would there be any adverse problems to also using the Redline Water Wetter, or would this just be redundant redundancy??

Thanks all,
Tom

Since we don't have wet liners in our engines, we don't have cavitation problems. The Redline water wetter is a good product due to its corrosion resistance. For that reason, I would use it if I had it sitting on the shelf. You may have to use two bottles of it due to the large coolant capacity that we run compared to the cars the bottle size is designed for.

I had a Torino Cobra Jet 429 that would heat up as soon as I stopped moving. Had dual electric fans, new radiator, etc. but if I hit stop/go traffic or any stopped and idling situation, temp would immediately get up around 200. It did overheat a few times. Two bottles of the Water Wetter did the trick. Living in New England though, I would never use it in the Ram.

Early Dodge/Cummins had notoriously POOR cooling due to inadequate radiator size and a poor design that placed the inlet directly above the outlet, permitting the coolent to "short-cycle", and not properly exposing the whole radiator to coolent flow. Consequently, these trucks tend to run considerably hotter than they should under hard use, and especially if power adders are used. I had a metal baffle installed in the top radiator tank on my truck to force hot coolent completely across the radiator, and at the same time used a couple of bottles of Red Line Water Wetter to give added help. Impossible to say how much each "fix" added to the mix, but I've all but eliminated cooling problems - still runs warmer than I like in hard pulls, but not HOT...
