Reese is a good product but I also like Drawtite I thing they have a better fit, they just seemed more concealed than the other brands. I have a factory hitch on mine now but they seem to rust within a year or two... ... ... . Rick

It just dawned on me that I didn't answer your question:rolleyes: Sorry but I don't have an answer:eek: :eek:

I took my stock hitch off and went to a Draw-Tite Class V from a local hitch shop. I shopped around and got the best price I could find on the net and they matched it. It's a MUCH beefier hitch than the stock one (weighs approximately double), tucks up under the bumper a lot more than the stock one. I pull my 8,500 lb TT with a 900 lb tongue weight with it with no weight distributing bars - it's rated to 1,000/10,000 weight carrying 1,200/12,000 weight distributing.

Steve ... . just out of curiosity ... why would you want to drag a 900 lb tongue weight around without load distribution? You using air bags???

My TT has 900 lb tongue weight and squats the rear real good ... .

Those class V are great. Cuz then nobody can barrow the the ball and tongue cuz its 2. 5 in... . I loaned my stainless ball out to a buddy and someone stole it:mad: ... ... ..... Rick

Mine sets the suspension down all of an inch. The trailer pulls great (I do use a friction type sway control). IMO there's no need for weight distributing bars with my setup. I've hauled it around for about 5,000 miles so far, never felt the need yet. I'm not using air bags either, I am running Rancho 9000 shocks though. I put them on setting 3 (out of 5) when towing the trailer. I bump them up to 5 if I have a motorcycle or two in the bed. BTW, the draw-tite class V is still a 2" receiver. That was one of the reasons I went with the draw-tite, I had many 2" plugs and accessories already and didn't want to have to replace them all.

steve, thanks for the info. the stock hitch just does not look heavy enough to me. i have not bent or broke it yet but not used it with a loaded drag trailer either. the stock hitch on my 97 chev tahoe is heavier duty than the dodge! i am sure they have a site so i will check with them... ... ... p. s. how much differance do the 9000's make over stock, i think the stock ones suck.

class v hitch

i also use a class v setup with no weight distribution. i found mine at a local mom-n-pop hitch house. paid right at 130. 00 out the door. i use the solid hitch bar and large shank on the 2 5/16 ball. everything heavy dutyi have no fears with this setup. the truck sits down about 1". we figure our trailer weighs at 11000 lbs. loaded. the dually doesn't even know it's back there. :D

Reese TITAN Class V

I ordered mine 2500 QC/SWB w/o the tow pkg or the camper package, the thing rides rough enough unloaded w/o, and since my hauling duties are largely haul'n "A"... you get the picture.

Anywho, intially I bought DrawTite's strongest hitch, but discovered that it pushed my 265 (OEM) spare tire so far forward that it could contact the stock differential cover if I somehow managed to buttom it. SO OFF IT WENT!

In went the Reese Titan class V, which sit below the rear bumper rather than up in front of it, this kept my spare very close to the stock position so I'm happy, BUT THERE'S NO WAY I CAN RUN A LARGER REAR DIFF COVER, not w/o moving the spare into the bed.

Hope this is helpful.
