We cleaned out the egr valve about 6 times with hot water and soap and soaked it in cleaning solution and hot running water in the sink, we also changed out the crankcase filter at the same time, we cleaned out the crossover pipe with bottle brushes and the same cleaner we made up and soaked it and ran a rope back and thru it with a knott to remove all kinds of carbon buildup, we did this several times and got the egr clean even better by using paint brushes and toothbrushes on the valve and valve stem, we put the truck back together today and went for a test drive, the cel light never went off but the truck runs great but has 100 per cent full, exhaust system, regeneration required on the overhead display, we tried to erase the codes with our autozonescanner but the p242f code remains. I am wondering if or when this truck will go into limp mode again now. I am 100 miles from a dealer in Devine Texas where i take it to get it serviced. The truck has 112k miles on it and am driving the old 2001 5. 9 while trying to figure out how to make it regen down here at the ranch instead of taking it to a dealership and getting a big bill and not even fixed like last time it went in. If i could just load it up on a trailer and haul it up there can they make the truck go into regeneration and check for o2 sensors dpf ruined plugged up beyond repair or what will the drill be?? I dont want to pay $4000 to $6000 that might be charged to me if they go in and replace everything until the truck is running ok again on my dime. I guess the question is what would you do if this truck was yours?? I am thinking haul it up there let them come up with a repair solution by hooking it up to there solftware reader and see what it says?? If the dpf needs replacement and the egr, etc etc I will just load it up and bring it back home and order the smarty or h and S delete kit with tuner and exhaust kit egr block off etc etc and try to replace it down there and remove the cel light and codes by installed the tuner, egr blockoff kit and turbo back new exhaust without the dpf and factory muffler. Gees, i Need this truck to go to chemo daily and here it trying to strand me again like the last time it tryed to burn up the ranch and had to be towed in 200 miles to dealer, what i dont get is they swore with the new latest reflash and the dpf replacment that this would be the last of my problems, we had the egr cleaned or replaced and the cc fillter replaced at 66k miles the last time and here it is again at 112,000 miles bucking and pitching codes and limp mode. Is there anything i can do today or tormorrow like leave it running for hours or go drive it 60 miles around an daround town and try to get it into regen?? i am wondering outloud when will it go into limp detuned mode again now since we cleaned the egr and replaced the cc filter and all of the connections with electrical cleaner?? Can anything think of somehting i have missed?/ Thanks in advance for any tips hints links or advice.
