It is interesting the noted "trouble spots".
Steering/suspension, fuel/emissions system, engine cooling, noises and leaks.
My odometer just turned 100k miles a few weeks ago and everything in the front end is still original. And tight. My tires are closing in on 1/8" of tread and wearing flat as a board across the tire. Rotate at 15k mile intervals when I do my service.
No problem with the fuel system, and i know of a few local guys with a 13+ that have alot more miles than I with the same results.
I had a def injector failure last year about this time. Even if you are able to diagnose simple failures you still earn a trip to the dealership to reset the countdown to impending doom and gloom timer. I'm not fond of that at all and is my single biggest complaint thus far.
Engine cooling, really? All I can say is I've pulled many of the same grades and loads with my 14 as i did my 98. Where my 98 temps would climb several degrees and the fan engage my 14 temps will only increase a couple of degrees. The entire drivetrain is much more robust. Not a great comparison, but its what I've got to go by .
I assume by noises they are referring to body noises. Everything in my truck is still tight and quiet. No complaints there but I did have a leak in the brake light at the top of the cab. Easy enough of a fix.
All in all I've been very happy with my truck. No way I'd go back at this point.
