My 2004.5 had 350k on it and running strong. Traded for 2012 had for 2 years lost driveshaft...2 week wait for new one so traded for 2014. 2014 in 18 months 16 check engine lights all emissions related, been in shop 16 times a week at a time, never got fixed. Traded for 2016 knock on wood so far so good, the odd check engine light that clears itself. 110k on the 2016......Only difference this latest truck is the first one where I do all my own maintenance except recalls.....

I've owned 6 Ram CTDs and all have been great. My 2017 5500 purchased new in Mar 2018 just hit 11K miles and no problems or complaints so far, knock on wood. Cheers, Ron

It is interesting the noted "trouble spots".

Steering/suspension, fuel/emissions system, engine cooling, noises and leaks.

My odometer just turned 100k miles a few weeks ago and everything in the front end is still original. And tight. My tires are closing in on 1/8" of tread and wearing flat as a board across the tire. Rotate at 15k mile intervals when I do my service.

No problem with the fuel system, and i know of a few local guys with a 13+ that have alot more miles than I with the same results.

I had a def injector failure last year about this time. Even if you are able to diagnose simple failures you still earn a trip to the dealership to reset the countdown to impending doom and gloom timer. I'm not fond of that at all and is my single biggest complaint thus far.

Engine cooling, really? All I can say is I've pulled many of the same grades and loads with my 14 as i did my 98. Where my 98 temps would climb several degrees and the fan engage my 14 temps will only increase a couple of degrees. The entire drivetrain is much more robust. Not a great comparison, but its what I've got to go by .

I assume by noises they are referring to body noises. Everything in my truck is still tight and quiet. No complaints there but I did have a leak in the brake light at the top of the cab. Easy enough of a fix.

All in all I've been very happy with my truck. No way I'd go back at this point.

Lots of recalls on my 2013 but it has never failed me and left me at the side of the road so to speak. My 97 bit me with the KDP and my 04 with #6 injection line.
