I purchased a new OEM Lift Pump last week from Cummins. I am thinking about relocating it back by the tank and bypassing the original location.
I have some questions.
1) What line fittings / threads do I need to plumb the new lift pump into the supply line back at the tank? Is the line back at the tank all the way to where it fastens to the steel line that goes into the filter simply a rubber fuel line hose?
2) What fittings / threads are needed to replace the input banjo fitting on the input to the fuel filter?
3) My thought is to simply extend the OEM lift pump power wires back to the new location, since I will not be using a pump in the OEM location; any issues with just cutting the wires and splicing in enough wire to reach the new location?
4) Build a mount bracket to fit on the frame back by the tank and complete the above steps... did I miss anything? Any other thoughts / suggestions?
I don't care to get fancy or spend a bunch of extra money. If you can be specific on your answers and give suggestions on where to acquire the parts and their specific names I would greatly appreciate it. I don't know much about fuel systems / terminology and I find quite often the part boys and girls know less than I do.
TIA.
