I pulled my edge comp for CA smog test, disconnected the wiring harness, and now have the check engine light on. I pulled the codes and I got the companion code, as well as 0234, overboost. I did some searching and it seems like the MAP sensor could be failing. My question is why would it be OK with the comp hooked up, but be throwing a code when it is disconnected? Any other thoughts on what could be wrong?

when its hooked up, the comp is telling the computer what it wants to see, just make sure you have a good connection in the plug and also take out sensor and clean it, they can get dirty over time and give a false reading.

If you installed the boost elbow you will still be running the higher boost without the comp fooling the ECM thus the overboost code.
