My dealer said the pump was covered up to 100K and OFFERED to do the in tank install. I plan on keeping the truck a LONG time, so I went for the Glacier external pump, I like the idea of being able to reach and replace easilly.
I looked around by the fuel filter for the pump and didn't see it.
It might not be there, if the in-tank conversion was done.
The filter mount pump sits on the firewall side of the filter canister and is much easier to see from below.

My LP just died at 37k. Being replaced by dealer under warranty, but they have had my truck for a week and say they are still waiting for the pump to arrive. How long should it take them to get it? Isn't this a common part? I miss my truck!

A fuel pressure guage would have done nothing for me. My pump went out like a light switch turning off. It hiccupped the slightest bit about 20 minutes prior on the highway, it was just the slightest hesitation at cruising speed.
IMHO for your situation I would set up the aftermarket system now bypassing the old filter mounted unit. It will be a back up in case your new pump fails.
The 100,000 mile warranty will cover replacement of your LP when it fails if you choose to wait. They replaced mine with an in-tank setup at no cost to me.
