theres now someone doing ATS trannys near boise

Prestone washer fluid

FYI - I had access to an AFE PG7, 72-90010 filter only. It had about the same ID as the stock intake tube, so pulled off the BHAF and used a steel sleeve to hoseclamp the the new filter in place.

Impressions:

1. More turbo whine than the BHAF.

2. Slightly quicker spool-up.

3. Havent checked for oil on the turbo blades yet (which is why i disliked the k&n re-0880).

4. Not quite as "Big And Honkin'" as the BHAF.

5. EGT's seem to be about the same, but havent really been looking for the difference yet.

Have driven back & forth to work for about 2 weeks this way, and I do believe it is snappier running at low boost, and comes up on boost quicker. So far its a keeper. . I have no connections to AFE, just thought I'd share...

Your results may vary, as I havent dyno'd this setup. I would be interested in knowing the flow differences between these filters to see if they support my impressions.

Dimensions shown on box:

Flange I. D. = 4-1/2"

Base Diameter = 8-1/2"

Top Diameter = 7"

Height = 9"

Filter Swapping .

The Oil part still scares me away .

These Holsets really do create an extreme amount of vacuum .

I had an elcheapo filter set up and the turbo wine would run you out of the cab

HERES A PIC OF MY BRIGHT IDEA

It worked but the HOLSET nearly colapsed the filter.

PAPER is SAFER in my opinion. :D

I ditched my K&N when I found the oil in the tubo and also down the intercooler pipe.

that stuff is real sticky and a pain in the a?? to clean off, and yes it is hard to determine if you have enough, not enough or too much on the filter media when doing the service on it ... to much hassel and not enough air anyhow ... go with a BHAF

For all you folks who run the K&N's and all other oil type of filters, I just removed mine due to the fact that it was costing to much in fuel to run. Let me explain. It is reaching below zero here now and with the cold air running over the oil in the filter it was not allowing the air to pass through. During the summer at 65mph pulling about 1900 rpm I was pulling about 2. 5 lbs of boost and 575 to 600 degrees Cent EGT. At -12 F at the same speeds, I was pulling 10 to 12 lbs of boost and about 700 to 900 degrees. Big difference. Hope this helps those in the colder climbs.

I have the RE880 for about a year now.

No oil at all inside intake tube or on turbo impellers.

But I live in texas. ... a low dust part of Texas I might add, and have run K&N's for many many years on several vehicles. But they do not filter as finely as may be needed in some climates & terrains. They do pass a lot of air. If I make a trip to west texas, I just put my stock filter box back on with the fleetguard filter. Which is a darn fine setup at my hp levels...
