I would like to get a replacement fuel tank for my 3rd gen. truck to be able to carry more fuel. Here is what I've come up with so far:

1. Transfer Flow (www.transferflow.com) now offers a 56 gallon replacement tank. The Transfer Flow literature states "Fuel tank hangs down 3 1/2 inches below the lowest part of the frame rail". Wow, that sounds like it may be vunerable to damage should I take the truck on some rough roads.

2. Aerotank (www.aerotanks.com) offers a 60 gal. replacement tank. I don't know any construction details or how low it hangs down.

3. Supertanks (www.supertanks.com) states they are working on a replacement fuel tank for Dodge pickups. They say their tanks "typically" hold 60 gal. and hang about 1" below the stock fuel tank.

Any thoughts?

Well I'd probably vote for Transfer-flow... after I'd crawled under my truck & measured what 3. 5" below the frame meant as far as clearance... I don't offroad my dually, so my needs might be different than yours! :)

I've never owned any of these three tanks, but other than the occasional complaint that Transfer-flow is too expensive, I 've heard nothing but good about them. I have emailed their support staff with questions several times in the past and have always gotten a quick response. (Something to try with any company you are thinking of dropping a sum of money with. )

For my old truck I used a cheap, black steel 45gallon toolbox combo tank from Camping World... . for my new truck I haven't decided yet! (Plus I'm now broke!!!)
