I have been searching and pondering a new head unit for my truck for a while now. First, the cassette took a dump but that’s not a terrible deal, but more recently the CD player won’t eject anymore- that’s something I still use a lot.
I have the RAZ code system with steering wheel controls, and honestly, I think it’s a good sounding system. When it was new I thought it was unbeatable for a pick up truck audio system! As it aged, I would often consider my options. I was always good at throwing together a system either bought locally (RIP Radio Shack!) or through crutchfield, and I usually did well. After a number of years, I was still satisfied with the performance and features of my RAZ system, and I could never find a 100% aftermarket solution that would plug and play, and be reliable. There is always the loss of either the wheel controls, or the Infinity amp. There was one module that seemed to be the solution but required a configurator and even that would not guarantee a can bus without faults.
After all this, and not wanting to kill the integrity of the cab, or the bus, I decided to follow advice I got here a while ago. I ordered a refurbished radio from http://1factoryradio.com/ but with a aux input jack nestled by the bass and treble knobs. It wasn’t expensive. I’ll update after the swap.
