Went camping last week and towed my 22' TT (weighs between 5000-6000# loaded) up and down some 8% grades. In addition to the trailer I had a 700# ATV and another 100# of tools, etc in the back of the truck.

As you can see I have the EZ w/ boost elbow, 275RV injectors and the BHAF. With the six speed running in 5th gear I was able to reach 1300+ degrees F and could keep it climbing to 1400 if I wanted. So, it looks like I need to find a way to get a little more air into my engine and/or cut down the exhaust restriction. It was frustrating because I had lots of pedal left, just couldn't keep it cool. (Of course I was already going 65-75 up some 7-8% grades). My goal isn't necessarily to climb hills faster but rather to make it so I don't have to constantly watch my pyro gauge.

Will losing my muffler help much? I will eventually get a 4" exhaust but may try the straight pipe first.

Do you by any chance know what your boost was at maximum? Based on what others with the EZ have stated here, I would have expected slightly lower EGT's...

removing the muffler will help but it will be marginal. sounds like you really need the 4 inch exhaust. i'd keep the egt at 1200 degrees max or less to avoid making pieces

elevation...

Was thinking the same as Gary. My egt's lowered dramatically when I went from stock to the EZ with boost elbow. I wasn't towing anything but climbing the same grades at higher speeds for comparison sake. What kind of boost numbers are you seeing ? I mentioned elevation as many members here have complained of higher egt's while climbing the real mountains, not like I have here  . I would have thought the BHAF should have more than enough flow, for what you are doing ? Is it possible that the air filter is dirty ? My BHAF performs right along the same lines as my last filter, a K+N RE0880, in my truck under the conditions I drive.

elevation and boost

Elevation was 7000 feet and boost levels fluctuated with my foot of course but were between 22 and 26psi most times. Like I said, I had lots of go-pedal travel left.

I think I have seen 950 once(post turbo). Coming over Raton Pass in Co. with a 5er and a flat bed trl. behind the 5er with a Goldwing on it. 65 mph, 6th gear and 25 on the boost. It was about 90 degrees oat. My recommendation is to get a good 4" exhaust system on that truck quick before it starts making pieces big enough to read part #s on.

I have the same combonation=Edge EZ,RV injectors. When I was towing Katdiesel back from may maddness we went through colorado and over and through Esienhower tunnel. I could get to 1300 deg but it took awhile and that was at 30 lbs of boost. The only difference between your truck and mine was that I have a 5in exhaust and no muffler so I would say you need to go to a 4in exhaust and a free flowing muffler. Oh, are complete towing weight was 20,380lbs GVW

barry

be careful when running your probe post turbo. tdr member boost put his probe post turbo and he couldn't get it over 950 with dd2's and a comp on 5-5. he moved the probe and was hitting 1500+. there is a big difference in placement.
