My converter is hunting in and out of lock-up at/around the 43mph lock-up threshold. I would like to try a re-set. Do I just need to disconnect batteries overnight?

Disconnect the batteries for just a few minutes. Then hook 'em back up and turn the key on. Do not start. Push the footfeed to the floor slowly a couple or three times.

Start and drive as usual.

There's actually an adjustment for the TPS rheostat, unplugging the batteries isn't going to "reset" anything. You jump on a pin on the PCM, take the voltage reading there, then look on the APPS itself it should have a voltage on the tag, adjust the reading to the voltage set on the APPS and your good to go. Pin 23 comes to mind on the PCM, but I'd have to check the service manual to be sure.

Rheostat's don't set themselves by stepping on the accelerator, they have to be adjusted. This is a very common belief on this website.

It works on my TPS equipped truck. I've done it a couple of times. Doing the procedure above will change the speed at which the TC locks.

The APPS truck I have is a manual, so I've never messed with it.

My mistake for answering a APPS question with a TPS routine.
