Anybody switched from DD2's to Mach 1. 6's? Smoother idle, lower egt's,less smoke are claimed. Anybody's experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

275 - DDIII - Mach 3

I started with stock 275s then went to DDIIIs and now to F-1 Mach 3s. Much quicker off the line with less smoke, they compare to the 275s. It might have better fuel mileage but not enough to tell. At least I know it didn’t drop any. I would do it again without hesitation. When I get done playing with my v-twin I’ll put on a set of Mach 6s and twins from Olee @ PowerbyPoole.com.

Went from the DDII's to F 1. 5's. Did not notice much of a difference but only had them in for a short time before changing the turbo so all comparisons are out the window.

If I had to do it again I would have started out bigger than the 1. 6s. Very smooth idle and much better than stock performance. Go for the 2's at least.

Immediate reductions in EGTs, no smoke and much better quality of power.

was it more power or about the same?

Debating going to Mach 2's, 3's or 4's.

I also planning on upgrading from DD II's but am currently on the fence as to which one.

I think my DDII's are a bit too smokey. ;)

To me, power was about the same. But it came on quicker. I attribute that to the cleaner stick.

I went to M3's after the M1. 6s. I ended up sending them back to F1 for diagnostic work as I was having a stumbling issue and Don wanted to be sure his sticks were not the casue. While he had them, he opened them up to M4's for me as I had mentioned I wish I had gone bigger to begin with.

Those M4's were actually less smokey than the M3's (newer design) and lots more power.

So, the bottom line is this. What do you do with the truck and what do you want to do with it in the future?

If you tow heavy, a M4 is a handful with a small single. Add a cam, and things get better immediately! Again, it all depends on what you want to get out of your truck.

I drove a stock sized HX35 with a 12cm stock intenal gate for a long time and had to watch WOT temps a little. Switched to a 14cm housing with a modded gate and temps were much better. Of course, this is all after the cam.

So, for a mild upgrade with a comp type box, the M1. 6s are hard to beat. If you plan on adding lots more parts real soon, go bigger. Obviously, each step taxes the drivetrain, so be prepared.

Go bigger.

Well I went to the Mach 1. 6's from the DD2's and concluded I should have kept them or gone bigger with Don's. Predictably not that much of a difference. Luckily a member scooped up my DD's and cut my losses. Real pleased with DD's customer service and look forward to Don M's as well. Thanks for the input! :)
