I had one put on last year. We took a little vacation at the end of Sept up to Madawaska, Maine as part of the TDR Five Points tour. It was nice to KNOW that the truck would be there in the morning. It may get vandalized, but, unless a rollback comes for it, it's gonna be there. Some of the resident electrical geniuses here on TDR I'm sure can come up with something that will also do the job, but, as far as doing something like that, I'm "electrically deficient!" If you live in or going to have to leave your ride where someone might put a "five finger discount" on your beast, you could do worse things that cough up some green for a Ravelco! I understand that the Dodges that don't have a "chipped" key (like my 04) are a piece of cake to steal! Mark

I also had on installed several years ago. It really does provide peace of mind when I park in the city. It is a clean install and and an effective device-- it is way too much work for a thief to determine which of the pins to jump or concealed wires to cut to get the truck to start. It only disbales the starting circuit. Like Mark31 says, a thief COULD choose to vandalize the truck since they can't drive it off, but soon I will install Jimmi-Jammers on the door to try to thwart easily messing with the door locks.

All that being said, even a Ravelco won't help if a professional is going to use a tow truck to steal your truck. Howver, choosing the right parking situations, where your truck is not easily acccesible straight from the front OR back, as well as curbing your wheels to make it so the truck won't load properly if it is being loaded on a flatbed are ALL good ideas to help your truck from being stolen.

I have a Ravelco in my truck also. The fellow who installed mine did a superb job, it actually disables more than one circuit. I watched the complete install. Good peace of mind knowing that no one will get it started, and the chances of a roll back taking it are slim to none. I still park with my rears inaccessible with something behind my truck like a big light pole, turn my wheels too. The windows have stickers on them that say RAVELCO, the average theif will see that and pass 'er by. Can't drag a truck that easily onto a rollback parked that way either.

I have one on my truck as well. I don't know if it works as I have not run into a situation where I needed it. I think it works since my son's $2. 5K POS car was stolen twice sitting next to my $50K truck in our driveway so either the thief is stupid to know that my truck is worth more than my son's or they just don't like truck and prefer rice rockets instead. :-laf IMO it is worth every penny of the $500 investment.

I know this is an old thread from last year but feel the need to put my 2 cents in. I had my Ravelco put in while doing a tour of duty at Fort Huachuca AZ. Illegals were stealing trucks like mine, no matter the model or brand name ... just stealing them right off the street in broad daylight and right out of peoples driveways! They stole 43 in one month when I was out there. Naturally I was nervous to park my truck ANYWHERE in Sierra Vista or Tucson let alone the border towns like Nogales etc. I too watched the install. Very professional. Took about 1. 5 hours. Ravelco has never had a vehicle driven off in over 33 years of offering their product. It is indeed "peace of mind" as noted above. I am now working in Youngstown Ohio... a filthy crime ridden town. So far so good. My truck has been passed up for other parked right next to it. I think the theives know what the Ravelco sticker means. Too much hassle. It is worth every penny in my mind. You can spend over a thousand dollars for lo jack and other worthless bells whistles and sirens that nobody pays any attention to. Speaking of lo jack. . you have to have a PD that has a scanner to locate it, then you have to WAIT for that cop to be available. Heck all they have to do is bust off the antenna for ONSTAR and that feature is worthless. What a joke. Also, what use is it to be 'alerted' AFTER your vehicle is stolen? That is ridiculous as it is too late! Buy the Ravelco, you wont be sorry.

I wonder if the chip in my key on my 06 is just as good???<!-- google_ad_section_end --> <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

No, unfortunately some dealers will make a key from a VIN number without requireing a title.

I wonder if the chip in my key on my 06 is just as good???

I've wondered that too since my dog chewed up my "chipped" key and my truck wouldn't run

how do they thieves steal our trucks when the key fob is required for the truck to run?

one last question, does anyone know where you can buy just the ravelco stickers? :-laf

GOT THE RAVELCO TODAY... . now I can sleep at night..... worth every penny... . our trucks are way to expensive now to have to buy another one... ... Oo.
