I am trying to gauge the interest that guys might have in reviving the Scotty II. Any input both positive and negative is appreciated.

Not made any longer. Find one and duplicate it. It is a good system though. I thermal wrapped mine to keep hot engine compartment air off of it.

I'd buy one. My only suggestion would be maybe make it available with a few different filters. Some guys would rather have a dry filter, like the Amsoil Nano filters or AFE Pro-dry.

Scotty II

Funny you guys should get this thread going again. Just today we sat down and looked at the costs involved with reviving the Scotty II. The biggest question is the demand. A lot of new options have come on the market since Scotty went out of business in 06. We already have the filters it's just a matter of getting the cases made. I would really like anyone's input on whether or not you think this is worthwhile.

Thanks,

Bryan

What I really like about the Scotty II is the size of the filter, and that it draws air from the wheel well or the cowl hole.

I know Gary did a study measureing the under hood temperatures and found that the air under the hood while moving was only about 10* above the OAT, but I still like the idea that it gets OAT air from the wheel well or the cowl hole.

The filter is 4" outlet to the turbine, then it is 6" at the base that tapers to 4. 75" at the far end, but the thing is 14" long!

Assuming the average dia is 5" (probably in actuality is a little more than 5"), circumference is 3. 14 x 5 = 15. 70", then x 14" long = 219. 80 sq" of filter area, which seems to be quite a bit to me.

I would certainly buy it again. It is time tested. It may not fit in the newer engine compartments, but it fits in my '02 just fine.

You that have and still use, what do you clean and oil with? Mine is getting pretty dirty, I bought two filters and even the one on the bench is dirty now.

I liked that the oil seemed to stay in the filter, unlike the K&N that draws the oil to the fins on the turbo.

So what is the story on the Scotty II?? Is it gonna be available again??? Does anyone have any pics installed???

I have one of the clear scotty II's. I have the UNI filter and love it. I believe the scottys were available with:

UNI

AFE

K&N

I personally chose the uni because we run then on the dirt bikes/4-wheelers in the dunes and have no issues. Also, the uni is red, and it looks good inside my clear housing.

scotty air - Dodge Diesel - Diesel Truck Resource Forums there is an installed pic of a black one. The pic is on post #6. There are also other pictures of my clear one at Turbo Diesel Register - New Mexico Chapter, but I cant seem to find them in the forum at the moment!!!
