Hello, I have a 2016 ram 2500 with the 68rfe. The transmission was upgraded to a revmax 700 68rfe in July 2017. It was installed by an authorized installer with appropriate re learn and programming by PPEI. I could not be happier with the transmission for the last 65,000 miles. Absolutely zero issues. Then friday last week I had to go to a meeting about a 2 hour drive away, jumped in the truck everything worked as usual. Get to the meeting, park the truck, 3 hours later come back get in the truck start it up, put it in drive and it barely creeps forward, then I try reverse, same thing, it barely creeps in reverse. So I check the ATF level, its good. Put the truck in neutral just to see if it would roll, it does. I am at the top of a parking garage and need to get down to ground floor for a tow so I start it up put it in drive and it creeps forward so I just creep it all the way to the ground floor. By the time I get to the ground floor it shifts perfectly fine, forward and reverse. So I drive it home about 110 miles, zero issues. Get it home drop the trans pan, nothing of note, fluid is bright red, no burnt smell, both OEM filters have less than 20k on them and are in perfect condition as far as I can tell. The seal for the pancake filter is fully seated and tight. So I cleaned the mess I made and put the pan back on, filled with ATF+4. Go to take if for a drive and same thing... creeps in fwd and rev... so I try 4 low, it creeps again but seemed to grab, so I took it out of 4 low and again it drives completely normal, no issues. I took it out on the interstate to get the trans up to temp and normally it runs around 165 or 170 but on that run it heated up to around 195 or 200, however the temp gauge I have mounted in the trans pan never went above 175. I have a trouble call in with Revmax and I am sure they will be in touch this week, just wondering if any of you have any suggestions as to how I should proceed.

Sounds a bit like the fluid is draining “back” into the pan and then having trouble refilling. That would likely be filter related I believe (the filter has the drain-back valve in it right?) or maybe pump related?

I think there is some kind of anti drain back valve inside the spin on filter. I will put new filters in and change fluid again when I get a chance. It just seems very weird.

If the filter change doesn't work........ I don't know that you should do this and I hesitate to suggest it, but I'd pour an extra quart of trans fluid in it and see what happens. Especially check for foaming by looking at the dipstick often and don't wander too far from home for a while

But that's just me and I'm not all that bright so...................
