Here is an update as of the morning of 03-05-07. After speaking at length with the representative of eBay’s “fraud protection plan” I have came to the conclusion that they are just about useless. I finally had to go point by point with him to find out what they do and don’t cover. Basically they only cover the engine, transmission, body and frame. Now that sounds good until you get to the small print. They do not cover rust at all in a vehicle over ten years old, period. The only part of a body that is covered is anything “that adversely effects the movement of the vehicle”. They don’t cover anything electrical, period. They don’t cover anything to do with the exhaust, or interior, or suspension, or transfercase, or, or, etc. So the conclusion is that they will pay $2700. 00 for a transmission repair and that’s it. Apparently the engine is OK as far as they can tell without actually being able to drive it at speed, at least according to the diagnostics.
