When you find someone to visit you "friend" in CT, perhaps he (they) can swing by Mr. Robert Hyde's place at 15 Hoganview Dr. in Asheville, NC. :-laf This THIEF ripped me off for a chainsaw on ebay.

I'm taking Mr. Robert Hyde to small claims court in April. It will cost me all the money to travel there and back, but I don't want the... . errr... . gentleman to get away with it. #@$%!

If this guy is running a car lot, he is probally bonded. The state should have the bond information as well as the insurance carrier. Once you get that information, write a letter to the insurance carrier stating your problem and your intention to file a claim against his bond. The insurance company will want to know if you have attempted to correct this problem directly with the person on the bond. I think a good arguement can be made for interstate fraud but you will need to document all of the findings from your mechanic complete with pictures and signed statements along with the information he gave you from the ebay website and emails if you still have them. If you haven't started a binder with all this information yet, go ahead and get on the ball. Also make copies of the actual Ebay website. That website information will be taken off line soon. . Don't give up and remain a "thorn in the flesh" with this guy until your are satisfied. You will probally have to compromise at some point, but it will be better than a complete loss.

Good luck on your new part time job. You may even learn something through all this.

You may not have to go to his location.

I am in the middle of trying to get my money back on an ebay P7100 pump. I got the judgement where I live which he did not pay. The county court on his end is going to ask for a list of his assets for seizure.

Here is an update as of the morning of 03-05-07. After speaking at length with the representative of eBay’s “fraud protection plan” I have came to the conclusion that they are just about useless. I finally had to go point by point with him to find out what they do and don’t cover. Basically they only cover the engine, transmission, body and frame. Now that sounds good until you get to the small print. They do not cover rust at all in a vehicle over ten years old, period. The only part of a body that is covered is anything “that adversely effects the movement of the vehicle”. They don’t cover anything electrical, period. They don’t cover anything to do with the exhaust, or interior, or suspension, or transfercase, or, or, etc. So the conclusion is that they will pay $2700. 00 for a transmission repair and that’s it. Apparently the engine is OK as far as they can tell without actually being able to drive it at speed, at least according to the diagnostics.
