As the others have said, the installation was a snap. Getting the plug off was not as easy as it could have been. Two step process -- first sliding the red plastic lock sideways and then secondly unclipping the catch on the back side of the plug so it will release. I unplugged the cooling fan wiring to make room so that helped. The sensor itself was nicely done.

After installing I noticed 2 things right away. The first is that idle is smoother and seemed quieter. The 2nd is the overhead reading on the fuel economy is definitely improved. After resetting and driving about 12 miles I averaged about 18. 5 and I've never seen over 18 around town. I will hand calculate the fuel economy to confirm a change there but I believe the advancing of the timing has made a difference in the efficiency of the fuel burn. If the fuel economy is truly improved, this is a no-brainer upgrade. From the way it idles, you just get the feeling that the truck likes the timing advanced from the way it comes from the factory.

As for power -- I can't tell if I have more power or not. I will have to see over time if I can tell if there is an improvement there as I just haven't driven in enough situations to try to objectively quantify and power changes.

One odd observation -- my old crankshaft sensor was worn off on 1/3 of the flat surface that's supposed to read the crank position. It actually had black plastic shaving pieces (of itself) hanging from it. I thought it very odd and wondered if it was functioning properly in this condition... .

I agree install was very easy... . maybe 6 minutes from start to finish!

I haven't noticed the increase in mileage yet, though... I don't think I've driven enough to tell... . and with fuel expected to hit $4-$5/gallon in the next few days, I probably won't be driving it much! :{

I installed mine last night also. very easy to do and the engine sounds much happier. I also think it's helped with a power drop off I had at about 2000rpm Oo. Oo.

Does anyone know if this could be used with a box?? Maybe a quadzilla :-laf

Hi Brian --

The simple but not too helpful answer is that this can be stacked with any box or downloader that adding up to 2 degrees of timing advance won't be too much for the truck. So it all depends on the box or downloader you want to use.

The more helpful answer is that the rokktech site has just updated their stacking page:

I hope this helps.

Ok Just ordered mine and I hope it help the MPG on the truck will someone please dino that thing I will when I get it even will do a before and after and I have a completly stock truck. Just cant beleve no one has done this yet.

The thing that I wonder-will the dealer be able to tell this is a modified part-either by looking at it or digging through the trucks computer? Wouldn't this void your warranty if the dealer could tell you advanced the timing 2 degrees?

For the one TST user that replied, What year is your truck. And did you have any knock that was mentioned at the bottom of the page.

That would be me. I use both the ramifier and the tst. So far I have not had any knock, if anything it runs smoother.

Sounds great! I've been waiting to find out if it would work. I think I will order one tomorrow.

I just noticed you are in California. Is yours an SO?

I installed the Rokktech crank sensor about a 7 days ago and what I notice was an increase in low end power and I gain about 2 MPG. It does work!

Thanks JGann the site was perfect of course now that I know this and everyones trucks seem to run smoother I guess there is only one thing left..... BOMBS away :-laf

I got mine in the mail and it took longer to dig out some tools and the floor jack than it did to change the sensor. Good seat of the pants feel and works well with a Diablosport Power Puck ( boost and fuel pressure fooling ) so far.

I just put a couple of miles on it after the install so I won't know about mileage for a few days.

I just took my first trip to work and back (70 miles) with mine and the overhead showed a little over 2 mpg better than doing the exact same trip before the new sensor. I'm taking a road trip next month so hopefully I'll have some good highway numbers after that. The truck seems to have a little more low end power and runs smoother too.

If the hand calc mileage goes up 2 mpg like the overhead, I should be pretty close to 20 mpg. I think maybe Rokktech found the lost 04. 5 mileage! Thanks.

I installed mine the day before. Yesterday I drove it my usual route to work, 3 6% grades, notice more bottom end torque and the exhaust tone considerably quieter on the climbs. Stayed in over dive better, and better throttle response. Also cooler EGTs by about 200 degrees. Filled up last night and can't wait to check milage. Taking it to Talladega next week with a 35' 15k 5ver. Can't wait to see how she runs out!!

I just ordered one. Funny, after reading this and the other thread on the timing sensor, my overhead mileage went up 1 mpg. Maybe changing the air filter and driving mostly freeway at 1950 to 2000 rpm might have something to do with it :D .

Now that the hurricane has passed our mail system should be running again so after waiting for almost 3 weeks, I'm hoping it's finally in the mail. That's the only thing about this that has chapped my butt was Rokktech saying it was going to be here 2 weeks ago. Hope I have better results with the sensor than with their customer service.

I installed mine earlier this week. We're full timing for 7 months and between Anchorage and Portland, mileage has been below 9 mpg pulling our 5er. We hit the road again on Monday after 2 weeks here in Portland, and it will be interesting to see if mileage goes up. We try to keep speed around 60 mph for fuel savings. Initial impressions driving empty - cruising at 55mph, egt are lower, boost is a bit lower. If I stomp on it in 5th gear, top egt is about 100 degrees lower (1100 instead of 1200 - pre turbo) and boost went up to 32 when it maxed at 30 before. I'll try to post more info after we've towed for a week or two.
