I am a former muffler shop owner. Having seen a picture of the muffler, it does not have the inlet and outlet in the right places to line up easily. I WILL be a "we'll MAKE it fit" instalation!

I assume the company figures the average guy won't have the ability to fabricate and make the muffler fit. Of course, I have also seem some muffler shop work that looked like it was "built in a barnyard".

I was a little puzzled why a supposedly purpose built muffler "designed by an acoustical engineer" would not also be a straight-forward install, so I bought the MBRP replacement. Still had to trim the tail pipe, no biggie, but it is a little louder than I expected.

could it be designed to be a replacment muffler for an aftermarket system? most aftermarket systems have a center inlet/out setup...

The 04. 5 and later have the outlet of the catalyst lined up with the outlet of the muffler, so I don't see the problem. Just cut the pipe off about 4 inches after catalyst (before it bends down) and after rear muffler. Fits perfectly on short bed quad cab, and needs a 20 inch section of 4-inch pipe after catalyst on long bed. There is no need for any offset in the pipe. The stock muffler clamps will fit.

It just needs 2 or 3 J-hooks welded on, which most people cannot weld at home.
