What mileage do you rotate your tires?

Seriously thinking about running RED

Keep it or Sell it?

After getting the tires rotated for the second time... I wondered at what mileage do people rotate their tires?

0 - 5000

5001-10000

10001-15000

15001-20000

20001-25000

When I have time

Do what?

When I buy a new set.

I have never set a milage for rotating my tires. I keep a close eye on the tread and rotate when they first begin to get that "sawtooth" wear. New tires or tires with deep tread (traction tires) need to be rotated a LOT more often than tires that are near the end of their life. New traction tires may NEED to be rotated every 5,000 miles... I have had ones that did! A worn highway tread may go 20,000-25,000 without problems.

How do the dually tires wear (why is it a waste of time to rotate)? Do the rears never wear, so you just replace the fronts when they get cupped? Do they not cup, or something, due to the design/loading/etc. ?

My last truck (QC/SB) wore the rear tires out really fast (tight limited-slip?), and the fronts would cup really bad after 15-20K miles. I did have the dreaded steering drift, so that could have been part of the early demise.

I'm wondering how much I'll have to budget for my new truck, and what is the best way to prolong the life of the stock tires, when I get it.

I have two set of tires, one for the winter (bfg tk's) and one set for summer (mich. stock load range E). I rotate during the seasonal change.

I rotate every 4 to 5K. It's a lot of work but pays off. The original Michelin LTX/AS and the replacement LTX/MS both went 55K and were not down to the wear bars when replaced. I run 65 PSI.

A lot depends on where you live. I used to live in the Mountains of Central Idaho. The roads were one big curve there. They also used cinder (like little arrow heads) to chip seal the roads there. So you went thru tires fast. I rotated every 3000 miles while I lived there. If you waited till 5000 miles the wear was very noticeable and your tires really wore out fast. KL

NOT!!! teflon tires!

Ritually every 10k, 65psi all round (including the spare)and 20psi in the rear bags, along with oil and fuel filters and an oil change. I should get to 100k easy at the current rate whatever the weather/road conditions- Yokohama TY303s 225/70R 19. 5 - don't leave home without 'em :D

I was advised by our tire supplier to rotate every oil change on our 4wd trucks. Seems they are more likely to have front end tire wear issues than 2wd.

Once the saw-tooth wear pattern sets in, it's unlikely that it will be corrected by rotation, so probably best practice is to rotate more often than not.

One snowplower who shares our shop never rotates, preferring to complain about low tire mileage and spend big dollars for replacement instead. Of course, this is always the fault of the truck, not the owner of same.

Not as often as I should. The Michelins hold up well, though. I'm on my second set. Got 66K out of the first set. I just rotated them Sunday. Re-packed the front wheel bearings while I was at it.
