i have a 2007 2500 5. 9. it started idling rough 3 weeks ago so i took it to dodge and they did the ecm recall adn told me that i needed 2 injectors... . took it back when they had the parts and another mechanic said there was nothing wrong at all... the problem is still there... truck has 60,000 miles bought it used in october with 54000

at an idle it shakes alot and smokes

on the road it runs fine been getting 21 mpg average. .

at traffic lights and stop signs it shakes and smokes grayish white (not leaking antifreeze)

no check engine light is on and i hooked it up to a code reader i never got a code the idiot lights work

does it stumble wile driving?
or when you are setting with the motor running does the tack drop for about a half a second then gose back up and run's fine for about 3 to 10 seconds and does it again?

Runs fine while on throttle. It stumbles at an idle like you said up and down and does the same in gear at lights and such. Dealer said to run 2 tanks with a mopar additive part number 05191800aa. But they don't know what to do.

Is your truck driven a lot of short trips and do you drive with an egg under your foot?

If yes, hook up a big trailer and run some hard miles on the motor, it needs to be brought through its operating temp and used hard.

You might want to go to a dealer with a good diesel tech. Some of the biggest dealers only have one diesel tech but use oil change jockeys for more then the oil changes. Other dealerships have lots of ecxelent diesel techs that know their stuff. Ask to talk to the actual diesel tech not the 'Service Advisor'.

you may what to check with a local diesel shop that work's on fuel pump's and injector's and ask them if it may be the Fuel control Actuator on the CP3 pump,( just replaced mine and it seem's it to run a lot better)

Possible injector

When I had a bad injector, the thing that got my attention was at idle, the gear shift vibrated bad enough that the exhaust brake switch that is attached to my shift lever rattled. Additionally, the idle was rougher and sometimes you could hear a faint knock. I think the knock was the next cylinder picking up for the missing one. Just to let you know, the truck pulled the camper up the mountains in Colorado just fine. The injector just didn't open and close fast enough at idle to admit sufficient fuel. The injector shut down test that the dealer did proved it was injector #2. When they turned off the other ones the engine had a difficult time continuing to run; when they shut down injector #2 nothing changed. The engine was idling on 5 cylinders but as soon as you started making some power #2 would come on and work fine as best as we could tell. Ken Irwin
