Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Take it back to the selling dealer, tell them what the last dealer found, mention that the truck had 62 miles on it when you got it and tell them you want it fixed under warranty.

I'll go one step further and say I think it's downright illegal to deny warranty coverage for something that is not specifically addressed in the owners manual.

I 100% agree with Ryan.

If they deny your demand then tell them you 1) demand a full refund, 2) are going to file a lemon law claim, 3) are going to complain to cummins directly (just to make trouble -- they can't help you), 4) are going to call the GM of the dealer to complain, 5) going to call the parent company of the selling dealership (if it's a big chain) to complain and 6) if you can't get satisfaction, get a lawyer.

You don't have to actually do any of these things -- just tell them you're ready to.

Maybe after you tell them all that, the selling dealer will fix the problem.

Hang in there... .

Oh how I wish a DRB-III wasn't $6000.

Ryan-

I was just on the DC tech authority web site ordering some manuals and saw that one can rent the DRB-III for 3 days @ $150. Of course if anything is missing and/or it gets damaged then renter has to pay up!

Interesting. I found that there is a new dealer scantool called the StarScan . It's not clear to me what impact this will have on DRB-IIIs...

Not to get off topic...

Thank you all for your help.

Just to let all of you know this is one of three problems with the truck.

1. Injectors

2. Trans has a knocking noise untill you press the clutch.

3. The front tires are scalaping as if the alinement is off. The sevice advisor had said it feels like the hubs are not disengaging.

Thank you again for all your support and any help and advice you may have.

Thank you TDR for putting this web site together so we can help each other.

I will keep all posted with the outcome.

The service advisor is Brilliant! my hubs haven't been unlocked since I bought my truck! I would take it back and tell them to get one that the hubs DO unlock. The hubs can't be unlocked, there is not a factory Dodge truck since '93 that can have the front hubs unlocked!

I agree with Mr. Scrappy. I'm worried about this latest Service Department / Service Advisor. Bad response (I'll clean the injectors but won't replace them) to your complaint and I'm losing faith that their diagnosis has merit.....

Heres an up date. I took my truck to the dealer were I purchased it and had there service department try to fix it. They had the truck for two days and called me up and told me "your truck ready for pick up". They told me the truck was at idle for a total of 46 hours. They replaced the injectors, actuator and ball joints. They told me they used a cleaner that flushes out carbon and now the motor knocks all the time. The motor misses badly at all speeds and I have blue smoke coming out of the tail pipe at all times. My wife said she can hear the engine knocking from a block away. The dealer told me that they have to get a factory rep involved. So now I'm waiting for the factory rep. Truck has 3300 miles now.

I'll keep all posted.

Being that you bought the truck with 62 miles on the clock I would say it was a demo. I would hold them to that as where the majority of idle time came from, not from you. Also seems they made it worse this last attempted fix instead of for the better. I would be firm with the factory rep that you want it fixed and fixed right. Don't let them blow smoke up your rear end and give the well all diesels do that BS.

I just recently had #2 injector replaced on my truck through the dealership and man it is a whole different truck. I can not believe how quite and smooth running it is now all the time. Even my wife noticed right off how much smoother it idle and ran an the knock is gone.

As stated above. Claim the 46 hours of idling occurred before you got the truck.

I don't see from your bio what state you're in but generally Lemon Laws are for the specific purpose of recinding the ACCEPTANCE of a vehicle after DELIVERY and REJECTING the vehicle at a later date. It's an exception to the common law principle that a sale is final once the item or goods are transferred in exhange for consideration.

This situation may very well be what the Lemon law is designed for. Something is shady here and I believe you need protection. Good luck.

Bad Engine

So heres an update on whats happened so far.

I had taken my truck in for a third attempt to get this problem fixed. It took a couple of days for them to find out that something was really bad and they told me that there was a lot of carbon build up. Cylinder #6 was scored from what they told me. They still can't tell me how that could of happend.

So they told me that I was going to get a new motor. Ok I thought, at least I will have a new motor. Well a few days later I called to find out what was going on. I found out that Chrysler was only going to send a short block. The dealer told me they are requesting a long block.

Couple of days later the motor comes (long block) and I find out its a rebuilt diesel engine.

Now I have a brand new truck with 3000 miles and a rebuilt cummins engine.

Has anyone had a rebuilt cummins put in there truck and if so what luck have you had with it?

Um! MCervinka that would be a hard one for me also, because I feel that with a warranty intact and only 3K miles on the clock a brand new engine would give me a better feeling of security JMO. Of course I don't know their procedure, but you still have a feeling in away your getting chumped JMO. Mixed feelings that you just shelled out serveral thousand dollars for the concept of it being NEW. I know a few years ago I had a trans go out on my 95 Chevy truck at 27K miles and the dealership told me that if it was thrashed they would install a re-manufactured trans for me. Anyway they ended up fixing mine and it lasted to 69K when I finally sold it. Again I don't know the procedure on this whether if replacement is nesscary if re-manufacture is the only option that each dealership goes by,Dodge, Chevy,or Ford etc. You should have a 7year/100K warranty though from where your mileage left off on the odometer. Maybe someone else will chime in thats been through this. Good luck.
