I have a chance to buy a Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag 9 1/2 in barrel in stainless. It is a guy I work with that is selling it and he told me to make him an offer. I don't know how much the gun is worth and don't want to insult him with too low of an offer. It is single action and in very good but not perfect condition, it just has normal wear marks and light scratches. Any ideas on what it is worth?

I've never seen a 9 1/2" barrel, should be either a 7 1/2" or 10 1/2". The barrell length is measured from the front of the cylinder to the end of the barrel. If it hasn't been cut off, considering the condition you describe, I'd put it at @ $250-$275. If it was "as new" I'd say close to $300. If the barrel has been shortened I'd say $175-$200.

Big Papa is right on. I have a 454 Casull super redhawk and love it. Its a handfull with the 454 loads but for everyday shooting I run 45 lc rounds through it.

i love my 7. 5" sbh 44, after two misses while getting the range (i never shot it at that distance before) i center punched a 27" tv at 85-100 yards with open sights, so it definetly has potential, the back of the trigger guard tends to bite you with hot loads so a little work with a stone gets it less thorny, makes a nice big brother to my old army black powder :D

Used Ruger SA's tend to lose their value pretty quick even though they are very good guns. I think a fair price to offer would be $250.

I bought a used SS Vaquero in . 45 LC about a year ago for $300 and it had already had the trigger re-worked.

Here is a place to go to find what the market will bear also on your gun.

GunList is a magazine which can also be mailed to your home and allows you to see what they are bringing across the country and beyond. I have a Super Redhawk which I won years ago when my father was alive and love it. Hope this helps you with your purchase..... Andy

I am happy to say that I have a new (to me) handgun. Paid $225 for the gun so I am happy with that. All your replies were very helpful.

Thanks
