Running boards opinions?

I am looking for info on the mounting running boards. I have a duly and want ones you can stand on and flair out at the rear tires. Picture would be nice.

I know you said "running boards", but you should look at the 4" BOSS BARS from Putco, they are very nice and flair out nicely at the rear wheels.

I installed the Luverne Stainless Steel Running Boards and Box Boards on my dually. I highly recommend them and there are not as pricey as Boss Boards. A little difficult to install without help.

Looks like a tube with a built in board. Never get any rock chips on my truck either. Awsome!

I have ( BREEMER ) bumper to bumper boards. Flairs go over the wheels also , bumper to bumper. Have a step for the front of box, have step under both doors.

I think I am going to go with putco if they have aluminum. I have check on all the web sites they are useles. I would like to know how they mount. I appreciate all the help. The picture of the red truck looks good. I like SS but I think it will scuff to esay. I have aluminum on my old truck they don't look bad for their age and the fact I live in salt country.

I have Dee Zee stainless steel elites on my dually and love'em/... About $650. 00... Pics are in my readers rig...

I bought the Dee Zee brand of alum. diamondplate boards. They run from wheelwell to wheelwell with mudflap/type uprights that go into the wheel wells about 12".



I wanted something that served a dualfold purpose. Ease of access to the truck & protection of painted surfaces.



These may not be the "prettiest" boards on the market but, they work well.



I got the older style that required much more work to install them. The new ones are supposed to install, easily. The ones that connect to the bed of the truck may be more of a problem on the newer boards. Mine were a bit of a project, to do.



These boards are strong. I stand on mine all the tome & they do not bend, at all.



If I had to do it over again. I'd buy them again.

I found the pictures of your truck midnight it does look good. My thoughts are the same as yours Buffalo, protect the body with something strong enough to be used alot. Installing fuel tank in bed and tool box. I'd like to find some pictures or instructions on how the mounting systems work. I don't care how long it takes to install them I only want to do it once. I didn't think it would be this hard to choose a set of running boards.

My "old style" boards require you to do a lot of drilling to mount them. The "new style" utilize existing holes & make the installation very easy. Believe me, the "new style" is the one you want.



I don't believe the "new style" boards mount as easily under the bed of the truck. In other words, I think the "new style" boards are ONLY EASY to install under the cab of the truck, not the bed.



Best bet would be to talk to a Dee Zee distributor/installer & find out for sure. When I bought mine, I talked to two Dee Zee Reps. at a truck store show. Both showed me & insisted that they were easy to install. But, they sent me the "old style". I should have returned them but, thought "how hard could it be"? (I'm not much of a mechanic. )



To make matters worse, after I completed the installation, I drove back to the truck store & complained to the Mgr. about them sending me the wrong boards & how much trouble I had installing them. He said, "

Gees, you should have brought them back & we would have installed them for free". I could have shot him, & then myself.



At any rate, I got them done & the haven't fallen off the truck, yet.



If you decide on the Dee Zee's & would eventually like to have some side marker lights on the boards, drop them a bit to allow room enough for the lights. There is an upright, vertical piece that is a couple of inches tall & would be a great place for side marker lights. The vertical piece mounts under the cab of the truck. I mounted mine a bit too far up & under the cab, not leaving enough room for marker lights. Just a thought.

I ordered the boards from dodge. I like the way they mount. The price was about the same as the other ones out there. Thanks for the help. If I can I will put a pic on here.
