Has anyone used the TST box by itself and if so, what were the results? How is the drivability and performance?

Thanks

T.

I did for a while, The TST alone was a bit touchy - Much better with the EZ stacked... Even if you dont need the power...

But the performance was always good. Netted a 396 hp dyno run with TST alone (and thats on a 199hp stock to the wheels truck)

Been running the TST alone for quite some time. Very happy with it. Since it's going to be sled pulling soon it's getting something else stacked but if I wasn't competing with it I'd keep it TST alone forever.

your "199 stock" RWHP. , you have the 305hp motor. STock as in, stock turbo aswel?

So 30% drive train loss is typical of these trucks for a manual.

anyone know what the auto loss is? even a built auto loss.

The dyno runs, I've seen, on 305 HP trucks showed 265 RWHP, pretty regularly.

I wonder if that truck was a Standard Output engine. That would make more sence.

DOH! your right, tommy's is a SO truck. that does make more sence.

So, 305hp trucks, putting out 265RWHP, That's like a 14% drive train loss. Now this doesen't sound right either being that low could it?

I agree with Tommey... I started out with just the TST, and power was good, but driveability was somewhat comprimised. I tried all settings up to 9/9, and about every combination possible. I had to be very careful rolling in and out of the throttle to avoid "turbo bark". Once I stacked the EZ with it, the power smoothed out a lot, and the turbo bark is all but eliminated. Even with the EZ on the lowest setting, there is a tremendous improvement in driveability. Also, with the TST alone, cruise control tended to be far from smooth... the EZ restored cruise to a factory like feel again... but with a little more power! I'm very pleased with the stack... Eric

Still running my TST alone since day 1 (I bought when they first came out)

When I had the TWINS program it was touchy to drive but I had it reprogrammed about a year ago and power is smooth now

You do know "SO" stands for Super Output, right?

hahahhaa

well i have a 04. 5 325/600 that only ran 366 on 9/9 , and when we turned the box off the truck ran only 220 , that seems darn low , since that run on the dyno i ve put a new fuel filter on it , had all sensors checked out , i have 6900 psi at a idle and wot is 23200, and i had a 150 fass hooked up during those dyno numbers , i hope when i get back to the dyno its alot better , i was hoping to see atleast 265 - 275 with the box off ? i have a 48 re with valve body and 411 gears with 35" tires , any help out there ?

To much fuel! Did you try turning the TST down a bit and running it? It will drain the rail PSI to where the fuel doesnt atomize very well and in most cases will make HP drop to the floor. My TST only #'s were on a load cell dyno, intake, exhaust,TST I think was 7/7 or so and it was right at 300 stock (tst 0/0) and 450 HP on 7/7? I think which seems a bit high but it still made 150 HP over my baseline.

Robert, did you still have the TST on your truck for the "stock" run of 220 and just set for 0/0? If so that could have been your problem, try taking it completly off and redynoing.

If you had the box disconnected and the stock jumpers installed you should have been completely stock.

If the TST was plugged in, there 0/0 is not quite stock from our experience and can lower the output of 04. 5+ trucks below stock with the modifications they are doing.

I can't get into much more of a description of why/how we believe TST is doing this, I'm just trying to help explain why, if dynoed on 0/0 you may see less then the 280-290rwhp most stock 04. 5 trucks see on the dyno.

wow , i didn t know that , yes the box was hooked up and on 0/0 when we ran it last, i ll put the jumpers on it next dyno run , thanks for the help , i m grateful to you . .
